  1. I'm a registry nurse and I worked at a facility for 1 day. I never worked there again but 6 months later I received a letter in the mail stating that I was being accused of falsifying vital signs by the DON. Upon further inspection, I was told that 20 different nurses received this same letter. I spoke to the board investigator and she said that they had 3 patients they were looking into that the facility's Don stated I falsified vital signs. This case has been going on for 5 months and counting and I've been stressed for so long regarding what the outcome is. I honestly don't even remember that day and it's unlike me to falsify vital signs in fact I wear a Fanny pack with my thermometer, blood pressure cuff and pulse oximeter at all times. So I'm just extremely stressed out because it's unlike me to falsify vitals Do you guys know what possibly might happen?
  2. Can I get in trouble for lingerie/artistic nude modeling? I've been modeling since I was a kid and it's tasteful modeling and nothing Media-looking but I guess some people might see it differently. I want to get into health policy or nursing journalism/administration. Can I get into trouble for posing lingerie catalog work/artistic nude for art classes?
  3. I only want to work part time/ per diem and slowly integrate myself into the hospital setting. I am suffering from acute stress trauma - a sub-category similar to PTSD. i function great I'm just suffering the whole time because I'm scared my disability will affect my work. The anxiety and adrenaline help make me put out great work it's just exhausting mentally. Can I get your input?
  4. Will a sudden stop in NSAID use harm the patient? Let's just say that they're used to having their blood thinned, will a stop in NSAID use cause more viscous blood and put patient at risk for other disease like: hypertension, stroke, mi, etc? What does a sudden viscosity in blood do to the human body?
  5. Can someone please explain the non graduate option of the BRN application? It's confusing to me. I'm looking for a comprehensive list to see if I'm eligible to sit for NCLEX.
  6. Hi I was looking up volunteering at doctors without borders, I don't have the experience that they want ( 3 years ), do you know if you have to have that kind of experience to volunteer? I went to RN BSN school.
  7. Hi I was wondering if anyone had any information on going to school in the Philippines for MD or NP and then coming back to the U.S. to test.
  8. that the body encapsulates it in collagen... But under what parameters make it positive (10mm vs 2mm?), and why? I was hoping for more information.
  9. I know that once the mycobacterium tuberculosis enters the body, the body encases it with collagen. Why are the parameters of a positive tubercle an induration of 10mm ?? can someone explain the patho to me?
  10. Hi, Why do foreigners who have received BCG get positive TB tests? Can someone explain the patho of this PLEASE. Also, each year are we given a different strain of the TB test? Since TB can remain latent in the system, can't it backfire and can't the patient end up with TB if one day they become of advanced age, immunocompromised etc?
  11. Hi I'm practically done with my BSN RN, I was wondering if someone can help me decide on which route to go with my nursing career. My heart is in public health and the medical mobile team at my church, evidence based research and advancing what we have but I have little experience in nursing and no clue which direction to go. Which route would benefit that and what kind of job/living could I make as a DNP, MSN with NP specialties or a PhD? Very Respectfully, Elizanda Dingle
  12. I'm on a budget and would like to get my masters. Cal Baptist vs Western Governors vs APU vs LLU? I'm in CA.
  13. Upon assessment, is it ALWAYS considered an allergic reaction? I know that some people have hereditary angioedema, or ace/arb induced angio edema. A nursing intervention for ace/arb induced angioedema is to txt with epinephrine. That said, should you assess first to see the etiology of the angioedema first prior to administration to protect the patient from unnecessary side effects of epinephrine? Does the doctor prescribe that ?
  14. Hi, I'm having trouble discerning whether or not it's professional to go out with coworkers or not. I see the pros of it as well as the cons what are your stories? & ultimately do you think it's beneficial or not beneficial to go out with coworkers? Thank you
  15. Hi, what kind of work can I do as a bsn rn student? I'm interested in trauma, acute care, ambulance settings (the only thing I think will really motivate me).
  16. Hi, I'm trying to improve myself. I plan on fully immersing myself into nursing like 100-200%, aside from family the med field will hold precedence over dating, having a life. Anyways, how do I become more mild mannered in unexpected circumstances? I've never been the fake it til you make it nurse, I have to know exactly what I'm doing to feel comfortable. I have no clue how some people do that because I know you have to have a poker face sometimes but I'm awful at lying!
  17. Hi I'm finishing up my BSN RN and I was hoping to be more active in making a difference in healthcare. I really like rules and regulations to help guide all the evidence based research, but I'm afraid as a novice my experience is limited. How can I help myself achieve my dreams and goals in nursing?
  18. Does anyone know of any nursing state/ government organizations I can join and grow in? I'm on a budget so free ones and also ones that are top shelf evidenced based research organizations I can grow with. Thank you
  19. Do you guys know of any positions that combine nursing and news reporter/anchor ? My friend she majored in political science and I believe she became a reporter. Im almost done with my BSN and I'm debating if I should go the poly sci route while I'm getting experience and then get my masters and do the DNP-FNP thing. I really want to make a difference in healthcare.
  20. I want to be a DNP FNP one day. I did a photoshoot with Abercrombie and Fitch's photographer in 2012, and they didn't choose me (Could be a blessing in disguise). I made a friend who is doing modeling and was thinking about picking that up again as a hobby while I'm gaining experience however I'm scared that it'll mess with the respect I want to obtain as an DNP FNP. Will people not take me as seriously if I decide to pick that up again? I was thinking more commercial things like JcPenny, scrubs, etc. If anything I can just make a more professional portfolio like news anchor type pictures? Advice please.
  21. Can I make a living or will I be drowning in debt? What is a good southern california DNP FNP program? What can I do with that degree?
  22. "Hey, this beats sneaking bites of room 15's food in between their lactulose bowl movements."
  23. Hi can someone tell me if I have this concept correct? -From my knowledge edema can occur from several deviations from homeostasis such as inflammation, reduced solute in the blood ergo albumin, heart disease, fractures, fluid and electrolyte imbalance (What else am I missing?) I know edema includes the increase in capillary permeability thus the blood volume or fluid volume is increased in that area. With that said, the intervention of elevating the foot is bringing the blood or the fluid accumulation back to the heart thus decreasing the edema correct? Also, How does elevating the foot decrease capillary permeability in edema?
  24. Is that a lot or a little? & Why?
