I graduated from Brightwood. Passed nclex first try. Got hired a month later a hospital in SoCal. Also started my BSN program at a respected fully accredited university in SoCal. a few of my classmates already have hospital jobs as well and the number is growing. it's what you make of it.

Brightwood San Diego
I graduated from Brightwood. Passed nclex first try. Got hired a month later a hospital in SoCal. Also started my BSN program at a really good fully accredited university in SoCal. Like the poster before me said, it's a means to an end. It will get you where you need to go. Financial aid department screws up a lot, but they had some really amazing teachers that I'll never forget. The cost is definitely a lot, but for people like me, it was my only option because I had already waited too long and had no more time left to wait.

$57,000 for an ADN at Kaplan?!!!!!!
Since I had 30% off due to military discount, loans covered everything except the last semester for me and I was able to come up with payments. I do believe they want you to do payment plans and im not sure they would let you wait to pay. They are for profit, so you know they want that money lol but most of my classmates who didn't have my discount took out private loans to cover the difference if they couldn't pay.

$57,000 for an ADN at Kaplan?!!!!!!
Yes PLNU is a great fully accredited school with a great reputation and they accept Brightwood students. As does university of Arlington Texas, Grand Canyon university, west coast university, western governors, university of San fransico and a few more. All of those schools are fully accredited as well. I'm using some loans and some out of pocket. I'm hoping to get a job soon after I am able to test for the NCLEX so I can just pay fully out of pocket, but I'm not worried at all and I do not regret my decision, I just regret I didn't do it sooner.

$57,000 for an ADN at Kaplan?!!!!!!
I was sort of in your position. I messed up when I was fresh out of highschool so had a low gpa. It would take a couple years to get all my pre reqs done and get high enough grades to be competitive on the point system. So I tried for two years, but I never could register for all the classes that I needed because they would fill up. It was going to take another year or two to do so. I also had a hard time staying motivated to continue and felt hopeless and like it was a lifetime away and I was not getting any younger. I originally walked into Kaplan in 2012, once I saw the price tag I said HELL NO and left. 2 years later after trying the community college route and building up my gpa and pre reqs, I gave up and was depressed. I could only be patient for so long. I talked to my husband and my sister who is very financially savvy. I was lucky enough to get a military discount so it shaved a little off tuition. After weighing the pros and cons, I applied. I got in and I excelled. I have now graduated with my ADN at 28 years old. If I would have just applied back in 2012 when I first walked in, I would have saved myself two years of wasted time. Some of my classmates already had hospital jobs before they graduated just with their ADN. You make connections at clinicals or get a job as a cna at a hospital during school and make connections there. Getting hired is about selling yourself and having connections. Nurses get hired with ADNs all the time still. However, I eventually want to be an NP one day so I have started a BSN program at Point Loma Nazarene University just to get it out of the way. Everybodys different and I guarantee that you will not find anyone that tells you to go to a school like Brightwood, it was honestly my last resort, but I am glad I did what is best for me regardless of others. As for the ITT tech thing, that is very scary. They are cracking down on for profit schools, so that's something to talk to the people at Brightwood about. But other for profit schools like West Coast University and Grand Canyon University are still going strong.
