Army CRNA Expectations
I was looking at the USU program, and it looks like I would need to be a "Sponsored" applicant. How do I get sponsored?

Army CRNA Expectations
Having served previously, I know that they will not accept you for service. I may be wrong on that as the military is changing very quickly of late. Your best option will be to talk to a recruiter.

Army CRNA Expectations
I appreciate the response. Good information. Follow up question: Does the USAGPAN have a high attrition rate? Reading the stats online makes it seem like there isn't too much turnover, but word of mouth has me concerned about the learning environment. Also, what happens after you graduate? I know you didn't do the USAGPAN, but I was hoping to get ANY sort of information. Thanks again.

Swallowing PO meds with NGT
What is keeping you from continuing the practice of crushing your meds and squirting them through the tube? Is there some policy that specifically states that you HAVE to allow the patient to swallow pills? As a follow up, are the NG tubes, or smaller bore feeding tubes? I have seen speech therapy assess patients with large bore NG tubes, and they have passed them off for PO medications and thin liquids. Maybe you should go that route?

Wearing scrubs to the interview.
I would wear scrubs. This would allow them to have you do a "tour" on the unit that you will be working, and allow the staff to see you "hands on". You probably won't be doing any specific patient care, but at least you wouldn't be wearing your suit during the walkthrough of the department. I have been a manager, and I have done this before. Wear the scrubs.

Army CRNA Expectations
Hello, I am trying to track down some real life information from current Army CRNAs. What I am trying to figure out is what to expect. I have 5 years CCU experience, and 9 years prior Army service. I have seen many different posts that have conflicting information regarding just about everything. So here are my specific questions: 1) Will I be paid during school, and if so at what rank? Will I be able to get a promotion during school, or shortly thereafter? 2) Will the time spent in school count towards my time in service (not my incurred obligation). 3) What is the classroom environment like? The clinical environment? 4) How many hours of clinical training will I receive? I know that is probably a lot to answer on your part, but ANY information will help as long as it is fairly current. Thanks!
