  1. I experience this every now and then in a primary care community team but I think some of it has to do with the fact that I am new to the team and less with the fact that I am an NP. I respond similar to some of the above posts by saying “I am happy to see you today otherwise we can try to reschedule you next week with Dr X”. And they usually opt to see me. After I build some rapport with some of these people and they see what kind of care I provide, they are usually delighted to see me again.
  2. I personally would buy the most recent copy albeit it's less information and fewer pages but at least you can be rest assured you have the most up-to-date information.
  3. If it is any constellation I wrote AANP FNP last month and prior to going into that exam I felt like you did. Keep in mind that certification exams are testing the most basic entry-level competencies. They don't expect you to know what an NP working 10 years knows. Good luck
  4. If it means that you will have a fair review of your assessment, I would say you have nothing to lose by asking for a review. Maybe you will be able to explain the circumstances to other faculty who may see things your way and have your test re-assessed. Good luck.
  5. Hi folks Thanks for the responses. I am relocating from Toronto, Ontario, Canada to the US, hence my ignorance re: NP licensure. Here in Ontario, RN and NP licenses are two separate entities and one can chose to resign their RN license if they wish (mainly to avoid the cumbersome renewal process and fees). thanks
  6. Hi everyone, I am a newly licensed FNP and I am currently job hunting. I was just wondering if any of you kept your RN license even after securing an NP job. A part of me feels like I don't know what the future holds for my NP career so I wonder if having my RN license is a smart move. Thanks
  7. It sounds like if acute care has been where you spent the majority of your career then the ACNP program would be more suited than FNP. However, I have known folks who have worked in acute care and wanted to make a complete change and thus pursue FNP route. I think this will come down to personal choice.
  8. Ok great. So for testing purposes, I am under the impression that NPs can order whatever test is necessary for the patient. Thank you for your help.
  9. If you don't want to invest in a fancy foot roller yet, try freezing a bottle of water and rolling it over each foot like the person above describes. The cold from the bottle might also help to give you some relief.
  10. Hi everyone, I am getting ready to write the AANP next month and as a Canadian-trained NP student, I am not too familiar with what diagnostic tests NPs are authorized to order. I know in Ontario, Canada, NPs cannot order CTs and MRIs, therefore, one must consult a physician partner via a collaborative practice agreement. I would like to get some general direction on what diagnostic tests NPs are authorized to order independently and which ones they must consult. Thank you in advance,
