Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2020
Hey, I received the "Thank you for Applying to Samuel Merritt University!" email today 2/11/20. I am confused.... Is this what they call the Preliminary email? Or the actual Preliminary email will be coming next?? I was looking at the threat from 2019, and around this time they were getting the actual Preliminary email, which stated all the classes we have taken and what is missing and what not. I submitted my application November 2019, and I had pending transcripts from Fall 2019. NursingCas verified the Fall transcripts on 1/31/20. Could that be reason why I am only getting this email confirmation now??? I am so anxious to know the results! ?

Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2020
Hi everyone, I am new here, just found this thread! I sent my application in November for the ABSN Summer cohort. My 1st choice is Oakland and 2nd San Mateo. I live in the tri-valley so Oakland would be a closer commute. ? Good luck to us all! Did anyone take Pharm or Patho online through SMU Pre-requisites program? I am just curious!

UCSF MEPN 2020
I was at the Info session too and @Marin520 is right, there was no new info really. The best thing about it, was that I got to meet and talk to Lisa, who is the coordinator for the FNP program, which is what I applied for. I met Steven Johnson too, but he wasn't super friendly, he is probably stressed with all the applications! Although, Lisa was super welcoming and sweet! She answered a bunch of my questions about the program and NP career. She said that it is easier for actually Nurses to get into the Masters program, since the MEPN is so impacted, but that should not discourage any one... I recommend going to those meetings to network ?

Good luck to you too ? Fingers crossed!!! It is very competitive to get in! The FNP program is the most competitive, but the biggest (more spots offered) program they have.

USF MSN Fall 2019
It seems so odd to me that an organization would make you go back to school if you are already experienced and solidified in your current position. For instance, if you are an MSN-NP and have been working for a particular organization for a lets say 5 years, what do they do, make you go back to school? Demote you? Fire you, give you an ultimatum? So do ADN-RN's that are currently in the hospital with years of experience have to go back to school or else... I think if you make the cut off, then you are okay, but for new students, it will be an issue. I don't know, its all speculation. I think my plan will stay the same. I will go for my MSN-NP, and then work, and then do a one-two year online DNP program if need be. This is all so confusing and a bit stressful and I really appreciate everyone's help!

USF MSN Fall 2019
Thank you so much for your response, that was very helpful. I am applying to two Entry Level Masters programs that in total take 3-3.5 years, and upon graduation you will receive your RN, MSN and NP license. The two programs are 130k-160k and both start in Summer and Fall of next year (2020) and now I am very worried that they will change the requirements. A part of me thinks I will be okay, but another part thinks it will be a waste. Do you think this change could happen in 4 years? Do you think once I am an RN, MSN, NP, I am sort of grandfathered in if they do end up making the change after I am complete?

University of San Francisco Spring 2019 Applicants
Hello All, Can anyone tell me how to become a Family Nurse Practitioner after the two years in the ME-MSN program. This program seems great, but my goal is to be an FNP and the info page on the USF website doesn't mention anything about this. Is it an extra year after you get your MSN to get the FNP? Thank you all so much!

UCSF MEPN 2020
Hi everyone, Thank you for the great tips! I am about to send my application for FNP. It was hard to make this choice, because I like AGPCNP too. I actually started the application late, and had to scramble to put it all together to make it on time to submit. It looks like I will just make it in time! I was set on going into an ABSN program first to get field experience and then getting a masters later on. But when I shadowed an FNP I realized that Primary Care is what I want to do now, not in 5 years! This revelation happened last week and on the same night I found out abut this Entry level program, which I am so excited about! Anyone going to the info session on September 13? Good luck to you all!

ABSN or ELMSN-FNP?
Hey, I am in the same position trying to decide which program to apply. Did you started the ABSN program yet? Did you like it? I really want to know because it is not an easy decision to make. Thank you!
