  1. I often attend the viewing especially if I didn't attend the death. The families of my patients always have seemed glad to see the hospice team. I've actually never gone to a funeral of a patient, just the viewing.

  3. I'm curious what others think too. I worked for my organization for approx 13 years prior to becoming an RN and then stayed for 3 years as an RN. In those three years I internally transferred 3 times. (Med surg to hospice to home health). I just recently left the organization all together for another home health agency. I didn't feel it was excessive but my husband who is also an RN thought it was.
  4. At my hospice we do 430pm-0800am on call during the week and 24 hours on the weekends. We used to have a weekend on call nurse but that position was eliminated. I average about 14 days a month with 4-5 of those days being weekends. We're pretty short staffed on the home care side though and the staff that work in our hospice house are not required to take call.
