RN New Grad Residency Los Alamitos Medical Center Starting 08/24/2020
Hello, thank you so much for starting this thread. Do you or anyone out there have worked at Los Alamitos Medical Center and went through their new grad program? I know that it's not a Magnet hospital and they do have a 2 years contract. If there's anything about this hospital for new grads, please feel free to share. Thank you. :)

CSULB Spring 2017
I see. I filed my 16-17 FAFSA on the first week of Jan 2016 and added Golden West, Coastline and CSULB under my school of attendence. During spring 16 I attended Coastline and fall 16 I attended GWC while I was on a leave from CSULB during those semesters. When I checked my fafsa on mycsulb, it posted my package for spring 17. There could be couple of possibilities of why loans are offered to you and not free aids. 1) 8 months ago when you filed your 16-17 fafsa, you didn't add CSULB under your school of attendance. 2) For transfer students, it could take longer for the financial aid department to process the free aid and it could take a while before it would be posted online for you to view via mycsulb. After we receive the second email from Monalisa (I would say anytime this week) regarding health assessments, orientation and etc, you can call FA again to ask about the free aid package.

Did you recently apply for FAFSA and put in CSULB as your school of attendance?

CSULB Spring 2017
Guys, don't forget to renew your FAFSA for year 17-18. This year they changed the month from Jan-1-17 to Oct-16. The faster you guys renew it sometime this month for school year 17-18, the better it will be because you usually get more than if you were to wait. This is the message they sent me: "It's time for you to fill out the 2017–18 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) if you are going to school between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018. Two Big Changes to This Year's FAFSA The FAFSA launched on October 1, three months earlier than in previous years. Complete your FAFSA as soon as possible to maximize your financial aid eligibility. The 2017–18 FAFSA asks for older (2015) income and tax information than in previous years. This makes it easier to complete your FAFSA because at this point, most people have already filed their 2015 taxes and can transfer their tax information directly into the FAFSA right away using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool. This is fast, accurate, and lessens the amount of paperwork that may be required by your school."

@lousan: the things that I can advise you on doing while waiting is to get your physical, flu shot, titers and things of that sort done now so when they request it, you would have it done and just turn in those paperwork. @snorlaxrn: if more students choose basic semester than there are slots for then they will draw a lottery.

CSULB Spring 2017
Hopefully today is the day that we will hear something back and preferably the last day of waiting for all of us. If we don't hear back by or around 6pm then it will be another week of suffering. I wish I have that remote control like in the movie Click and fast forward all of this. Haha

CSULB Spring 2017
From what I know and have gathered info on CSUF because I once was thinking of applying there but the nursing program at CSUF only accept their current freshmen into the program and it's even more competitive than CSULB since there's only 20-30 spots instead of 80 at CSULB. Regarding private schools and West Coast in particular, why don't you guys call or inquire info at Concordia University in Irvine. My friend is applying there under their accelerated track to get her BSN and it's much cheaper than West Coast with higher NCLEX passing rate. Tuition is around 50-60k and when I checked the NCLEX passing rate this morning it was in the high 90s.

If any of you don't have classes this semester then you can try to find any new TV series online and watch it to kill time as well as get your mind off of all this until the end of this week. Just a suggestion hahaha. :)

CSULB Spring 2017
For fall 2017 it might be up, you can search CSULB Fall 2017 or something along that, if there's one then that would be awesome if not then it might be too early. You can even create a thread for your cohort if one hasn't been up. For the new teas you can use a calculator on the math portion but most likely for fall 17 they will use the reading score instead of math too. Study more on the reading section so your score on that section will be strong. Also, don't take a computer test of the teas bc your eyes will feel tired, you will feel dizzy and annoyed plus the clicking of the mouse to go back and forth is not as fast as the paper-pencil version. Take the paper pencil version if you can and take the teas more than once with enough preparation. Good luck.

CSULB Spring 2017
Same here. Right now csulb is my only option and if I don't get in I'll apply to others like Csula or to a private school! I'll pray I won't have to resort to that.

CSULB Spring 2017
From what I found out from previous years, spring 15 got their acceptance via email two business days after their communication exercise, while spring 16 took 7 business days after the interview. As for fall 16 it took them 14 days. It makes sense for the fall cohort to wait the longest because generally fall just have a lot more applicants when compare to spring. If we are lucky and I'm hoping for this to happen, tomorrow evening we might receive acceptance letters, if not then by next Fri. All of these notifications on my phone got me paranoid because I'm just hoping it's from Ms. Ward. Guess I'll join you guys on this wait. (((

CSULB Spring 2017
@RaeC12, some of us emailed or call Ms. Ward to inquire about our rating, however, most of us here calculated our scores by using the formula posted on this thread. I see that your interview is at 2PM, I'll see you there haha. As far as the interviews go, I heard mix info as well. If you are above 9.15, just do well on the interview and hope for the best

CSULB Spring 2017
I'm planning on doing the basic semester because i'm tired of summer school. Haha. I will need that summer break to ease my mind from school and I also have a mandatory training every summer so trimester would interfere with that.
-
CSULB Spring 2017
This year they changed from Math to Reading. When you calculate your score and if it's above 9.15 and you didn't get the email then give her a call to see the reason why. Hope this helps.
