New grad bedside nursing disappointment
Cath Lab was a major let down. They did not want me there and one of the nurses told me I didnt need to be in ICU anyways, that I should go to med surg and if I could not handle that then go to a doctors office. Then she followed that by saying and I quote "Im not trying to be mean but nurses who come from the school you graduated from think that know all this and that and they dont know anything." Im already a very shy person with low confidence as a new grad so this really upset me because I never even said anything for her to treat me this way and even if she was thinking that I feel like she shouldnt have said that to me. I really dont know what to do now.

New grad bedside nursing disappointment
I spoke with my manager and thankfully she was very receptive and understanding. I am going to shadow in the cath lab tomorrow. This is a rural hospital, so they don't do balloon pumps or anything like that, they dont even do call. It is mainly scheduled caths, stress tests, that kinda stuff. Ive read that cath lab isnt new grad friendly but I figured since this is a rural hospital that doesnt offer advanced procedures that would require previous critical care experience, I may actually like it and feel comfortable. At the very least, it is worth a giving try.

New grad bedside nursing disappointment
I graduated in May passed boards in June and started in working in ICU. I made great grades through school, and I looked forward to clinicals. However, ever since I started work I am a nervous wreck, I cry before and after work and on my off days, I dread going back. This is my second ICU job since June because at first, I attributed my misery to a long commute and I moved to a closer hospital. I feel like bedside nursing is not for me, but I do not know where to turn. I dislike the 12-hour shifts, the death of patients, and the stress of it all. I feel ashamed, embarrassed and miserable. I have thought about home health but I know they prefer at least a year of bedside experience. I just don't know what to do.

New job- to quit or not?
I recently quit while on orientation. I did not have a definite job set up, but I was able to find one within a few days of quitting. Just make sure to put in your two weeks, even though they will more than likely send you home after you do so.

What to expect the first semester of nursing school
For fundamentals, health assessment and pharmacology, how can I compare these classes to my a&p classes or micro class. Are they considerably harder or they seem harder because there is more material being covered?

What to expect the first semester of nursing school
Wow thats alot lol We will have 6 lectures a week and 4 labs and eventually we will have pre-clinical on Thursday afternoons and clinicals on Friday and Saturdays. I already went and bought me a nice planner and a big dry erase calendar board so every time I go into my room, I will have everything that I need to do for that month in front of me. I'm very organized, and like to stay on top of things so I hopefully ill be fine lol

Am I overloading myself?
Last summer I took bio 103, intro to psyc, eng 101 and music app. Summer semester lasts half the time of a regular semester and even then it was totally manageable. I think that you'll be just fine especially considering you don't have any kids or outside commitments.

What to expect the first semester of nursing school
Hey everyone, I start nursing school (adn program) 2 weeks from tomorrow, while I'm very excited, I'm also very very nervous. I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight based on your experience on what to expect. Will they start lecture on the first day? How often did you have tests? Also, I have all of my lecture classes (fundamentals, health assessment, pharmacology) on Mondays and Wednesdays along with my health assessment lab. What did you purchase to carry all of your class material and books in because we have like 10 books and my classes are pretty much back to back so I can't run out to my car to swap books before class starts.
