I understand the stress but it is technically abandonment if you clocked in for your shift and you then left, thus abandoning your assignment... the way it works at my facility is that you work for the FACILITY, not for a specific unit/floor. It's great to be assigned "permanently" to a unit of the facility but at any given time you can be floated and expected to work anywhere you're put based on the needs of the facility. It sucks being bumped but it happens to the best of us, sorry to say you were in the wrong here (not to take away from your stress/health situation, just being blunt here).
