Vanderbilt MSN 2017
The financial aid email from VUSN explicitly states, You are receiving this information because you either expressed an interest in our program or applied for admission. Receiving this information does not indicate admission to our program. I too have a visceral discomfort waiting on the results :/ BUT I try to keep calm & carry on! As hard as it is, worrying about the application will not change the application result. I feel strongly that VUSN will inform us directly of any application decision delays. We can wait it out a little longer without driving ourselves insane!

YES you can submit your applications without the scores. It's actually preferable to submit the application even if all required documents have not been received. Be advised though, that your application will not be reviewed until all required elements are received. I had this issue specified at open house this October. I am unsure whether or not they will accept the MCAT in place of the GRE. Hope this information helps!

Hi everyone! I just had my interview for the dual specialty ENP program that lasted approximately 15 minutes as expected. I feel great about the interview and wanted to share what I learned. Each ENP who meets requirements and conditions of admission will be interviewed by ENP faculty, and from there the application will be reviewed by both the FNP and AGACNP departments. I was advised that decisions will go out in February. Best of luck to each applicant on the forum! Happy Holidays!

Just checked my application page. There is no Statement of Purpose listed, only my GRE scores, transcripts and Letters of Recommendation appearing with green check marks. But don't worry, if your SOP was attached when you reviewed your application and the system let you submit the application, it means they received the SOP (otherwise you wouldn't have been able to submit it). Best of luck!

Hey there lindsey08408, I will have to check later if I had a specific green check for the SOL, but you would not have been able to submit your application if the SOP was not attached. I saved a PDF of my application before saving it using the option from the website and it did contain my full SOP.

Finished my application and submitted it today! Dropping in to cheer y'all on and confirm that you'll feel so much better once you submit! I hope everyone enjoys the holidays and stays relaxed regarding the application process. We should hear back in February, so why worry until then? (easier said than done!)

Hi Everyone! Open house really was amazing! The faculty and staff seemed enthusiastic to ensure our understanding during the application process. I've read the above comments and agree. Application results to be reported to applicants sometime in February, those submitting before the early action deadline Nov 1 have better odds for admissions, etc.. Somehow during all of this I've overlooked a section on the Vanderbilt application page. I do have a relative who is a graduate of Vandy with their PhD in Immunology, and could technically list them on the application portion that asks about relatives who are alumni or active students. Does anyone know what type of impact, if any, that this will have on my application? Thanks!

Vanderbilt MSN 2017
Hi again! I'm excited to meet some of you at the upcoming open house. My GRE is this weekend, and I am a bit anxious. I have been preparing, but having been historically a mediocre standardized test taker, I'm a bit anxious! My practice test scores are just below the recommendations on the Vandy MSN admissions page, so hopefully I can break through that threshold and have one less thing to worry about! But if not, I'm banking on solid recommendations, undergrad GPA, experience and essays to overshadow the GRE Does anyone know if we are allowed to resubmit GRE scores after we submit our application, should we wish to retake the GRE?

Hi again! I just finished a lengthy conversation from one of the MSN admission counselors at Vanderbilt. Here's some clarification I received that might help others: Once you have completed each template on the application, entered in your reference letter recipients, entered in your GRE test date and or scores, confirmed that your undergraduate program has received your transcript request, and you feel comfortable with your essay responses and statement of purpose, they recommend submitting your application, even if your requested documents have NOT yet been received. By submitting your application, you can then view your "status" page where you'll receive updates as Vanderbilt receives your transcripts, letters of recommendation, and GRE scores. I originally thought that the following sentence from the MSN admission page,"Do not wait to submit the online application until all supporting documents have been obtained" was a typo! However, it is not! They want you to submit this information to help you meet the early bird deadline. The admission counselor also reinforced having your transcripts sent to the Center for Data Management. She also mentioned that the CDM does not have a telephone contact, and if you have questions whether or not your transcript was received, you should call MSN admissions for further assistance (especially if you made the transcript request >2weeks and haven't seen your status page updated). Regarding the October 15 OPEN HOUSE: enter your contact information by using the "Request Info" tab on admissions page to receive a postcard or check back on the admissions website in early September for online open house registration. Emergency NP Specialty Applicants: The admission counselor did say that this program considers your GRE scores more than other Vanderbilt NP program specialties. :) Hope this has been helpful!

Vanderbilt MSN 2017
Hi all! Joining this thread in hopes to gain insight regarding MSN admission at Vanderbilt. I currently work as a ER nurse at a level 1 trauma center and will have three years of experience at the time of my application. I will be considered a direct entry student having gained my BSN from a traditional four-year university. I am currently participating in a 6-8wk GRE prep course and, like some of you, am anxious about the test! I called Vanderbilt MSN admission's office this week and gleaned this information regarding their average admission GRE scores: verbal 154, quantitative 150, and writing 4.5. They also informed me that to be competitive for scholarships, the average GPA is 3.6, and that the full-ride scholarships usually go to those with a 4.0 in undergrad studies (however, there are always exceptions). The counselor also informed me that each applicant is viewed holistically, with consideration given to their undergraduate performance, current employment, GRE score, statement of purpose/essay questions and (if applicable) the interview. A colleague of mine is approaching her final semesters in Vanderbilt's MSN Acute Care program, and mentioned that at the time she submitted her application, she had only scheduled her GRE, and was able to submit her application without adding her scores but having listed her test date. She was admitted (obviously), but I was wondering if anyone, past or present, has any commentary on this situation. The GRE scores are reported 10-15 days post exam (however you are given "raw" scores immediately following your exam), and I'm planning on testing in mid to late October. Is it necessary to have my GRE scores submitted prior to the Nov 1 deadline, or can I simply put my test date on my application? Ideally the best scenario would be for Vanderbilt to have official scores from GRE ETS, but my scores may not arrive at Vanderbilt until Nov 3-5. Any commentary is welcomed and appreciated!
