  1. Hello everyone, I am a first year BCIT BSN program student and recently I have heard from a friend who just graduated from UBC Nursing program that he is struggling with finding a job as a new grad... This got me a lot of worries as i'm not sure how the job market will be like for new grad RNs in the next 3 years.. I have read online from Registered Nurses' association of Ontario that there is a shortage of nurses in Canada and by 2022, there will be a shortage of approximately 60,000 full time nurses... I have also heard from other students and just family friends saying that it shouldn't be a problem for new grads to find jobs.... But i also read online forums saying that it's only easy to find new grad jobs in rural areas ... What are people's thoughts on this? I'm not familiar with the RN job market in BC.. are there any new grads from recent classes that are experiencing difficulties or can provide some insight to this concern ? Thank you for your time
  2. Hello, For those of you who deferred your acceptance to next intake, do you have to go through all the application process again? Or are you guaranteed a seat in the upcoming intake? Thanks in advance!
  3. Hello Nina35, Thank you so much! I called them and they said it was website connection error. I have resubmitted it today and it worked!
  4. Hello everyone, I'm having issue with my criminal record check application, the online process won't request the check for me and i have to do it manually, such as that i have to print out the form and go to bcit and then mail it to the government. I'm wondering if anyone else is encountering the problem? I will be calling BCIT tomorrow to double check ( pray that it will work). Just wondering if anyone online right now knows about it or is having the same problem. Thanks in advance!
  5. Hello Everyone, I am about to go into BCIT nursing for Jan 2017 and i'm also interested in going into masters for Nursing at UBC. Does anyone know how likely it is to get into UBC nursing if you are not a UBC undergrade nursing student? Thanks in advance!
  6. Question on the immunization review form It says that we can email in the form but we nee to fill out a required consent and add that as an attachment to the email? Does anyone know where is the consent form? Thanks in advance!
  7. I know that people here might not have started the program yet, but does anyone know how the stress level is like during first level of the program? I was online and checked the course outlines and i noticed that we are doing 8 courses in 4 months...... thanks in advance!
  8. I just got accepted! Also congrats to all the others who got in!!!!! So excited to meet everyone :) And goodluck for those who are still waiting, believe in yourselves!

  10. Hi guys, i am still kind of confused about what self regulating is.... for those who had done the questionnaire did they provide and example or a definition of it? Because in the pdf they provided ( important information pdf) it seems like self regulation in the context of nursing is something that is governed by the government or the institution that you work for? I'm having trouble of thinking of personal experience for this :/ Thanks in advance!
  11. Hey guys Does anyone know how they determined who gets into the shortlist? Like is the shortlist based on grades? So if you are in the shortlist do they still rank you based on grades or do they only rank the final accepted people based on the questionnaire? Thanks in advance!
  12. thank you so much! That took off so much pressure
  13. hey guys, by GPA, do they look at all your undergrad courses' grades or just the prereqs?
