FNP for interview?
Hi guys, I've been more of a long time lurker and am currently in a FNP program. I'm writing a paper and need to interview a currently practicing FNP with 1 year min experience. It consists of 5 general questions about your role. I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone is comfortable enough and has some time to speak with me! I don't have the powers to private message yet but we can work something out. Thanks much in advance

Scheduled to take the NCLEX today but denied because of inappropriate identification???
I also think this situation was unfortunate. I don't feel witnessing the signature would have made it any more valid than if you had brought the passport up with the signature in it already. Being that you sat down for a minute to sign it and re-presented it, it would have been obvious that you signed it and not the person next to you, whether she personally saw it or not. Suggesting for you to go home and bring out another form of ID instead of accepting the re-presented one seems like she was on some strange power trip. Personally I wouldn't have another form of ID that matched all requirements besides my driver's license and passport. Sorry for that happening! I would have been very upset as well.

Bachelor in Human Biology to DNP pathway
Hi. I second Dodongo, you can do an accelerated BSN program (about 1 yr in my area) and become an RN, then look into DNP or MSN programs.

Do they still teach nursing history?
The first nursing class I took was Therapeutic Communication (2 years ago) and they went over nursing history as an intro to nursing. The material was covered for the first test and wasn't really mentioned again after that. It was nice though, to learn how far nursing has come.

What are clinicals really like?
My clinicals are once a week for 8 hours with a 30 minute lunch break. We are mostly up but sit to complete clinical paperwork. Clinical settings/units are chosen for the nursing class it goes with. I know some schools allow students to choose the site/hospital but in my program they are strictly assigned. At clinicals we arrive early to get our patient assignment and to explore their charts. Then we typically have a 10 minute pre-conference to touch base with everyone and explore any questions before being released onto the floor to find our nurse and listen to report. The rest of the day either goes really fast or really slow. We definitely do not get to pick and choose what we do, it would probably offend the clinical instructors, and some of them are very particular.
