  1. Hello! I have my second interview for the nurse family partnership this Thursday and was hoping someone could provide me with examples of interview questions they have had when interviewing for an RN Position with the program?
  2. Hi, can anyone tell me what the average pay would be for a BSN nurse with one year of experience as an RN and a year of pct experience in Asheville ? Does the hospital pay highest? In or out of hospital job does not matter to me- just wanting to get an idea of what I would be looking at. thanks!

  4. So this may be a silly question so bare with me. I graduate with my RN in May of 18 in IL. I plan to move out of state but am trying to decide timing and where I want to get my RN-BSN. My question is- I know I want to move out of state at some point, does it matter where my BSN is from/if it's from a different state that I get liscned? Or is the only thing that matters is my RN liscensure? I know you have to transfer your liscnese to a which ever state you move but is the BSN statues okay no matter which state your in? It's like any other bachelor degree status? I just want to make sure before I plan anything. Would hate to my BSN in IL and find it i should have gotten it in the state I moved to. Thanks!
  5. Thanks for your input! Extremely helpful! The more I research everything the more I'm leaning toward Vancouver.
  6. Thanks for your reply! For me living comfortably means being finicially independent, afford a nice small house (since it's only my son and I), be able to afford to dine out once in awhile, perhaps even private school for my son (not sure how public schools are out there). I would say your definition is pretty on point to what I would consider living comfortably. Be able to afford a decent car. Have bills paid off. I don't have any school debt yet but if I did be able to pay those off releativly quickly. I also love the outdoors which is why I'm researching living out there. Sinclair to you, I also am interested in the non hospital jobs, such as Nurse family partnership. However with being a new grad I know hospital experience for he first few years is invaluable. Can one still maintain a comfortable lifestyle on non hospital nursing salaries? I know it depends on the job but in general? Once again I really appreciate your input!! Thank you for taking the time to reply!:)
  7. Thanks for your input. I have been looking st housing in Vancouver and it seems reasonable. I am assuming WA pays around what I would see in OR. I feel hopeful after hearing your thoughts. I was worried you wouldn't be able to live comfortably on a nursing salary in OR. I'll look into peace health. I would love love love to work at OHSU
  8. Thank you for your reply! I have looked at housing and have noticed that it can get expensive. I live in a northwest suburb of chicago. Given the information you provided I will wait to relocate until I have my BSN. Which will also give me time to work as s nurse and get some experience. Is Vancouver close to OHSU? Would I still get an Oregon RN LISCENSE since I would still be working on OR and living in WA? I really appreciate your input!
  9. Hi, I was wondering if anyone could fill me in on what the job market is like in Seattle? Is there a lot of opportunity for nurses in Seattle/Washington? Can you afford to live comfortably on a nursing salary? I am a single parent of a three year old and finishing my associates. Do you know if many of the hospitals pay more for BSNs vs Associates. I know they will require you to get your BsN in a certain amount of time but I know for instance, some of the hospitals near me require you to get your sN but don't pay any higher having it. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could fill me in on what the job market is like in Portland? Is there all of opportunity for nurses in Portland? Can you afford to live comfortably on a nursing salary in Portland? I am a single parent of a three year old and finishing my associates. Do you know if many of the hospitals pay more for BSNs vs Associates. I know they will require you to get your BsN in a certain amount of time but I know for instance, some of the hospitals near me require you to get your sN but don't pay any higher having it. 11. I am considering Asheville because I have family there. I am also curious if they pay increases with a BSN vs Associates at Mission Health. I know some hospitals require you to get your bachelors but will not increase pay once having it. I graduate in May with my RN and trying to decide if I should relocate at that time to ashville and get my BSN then or stay in IL for the following 15 months while getting my BsN then relocating.
  12. I am looking for information on Nursing Careers in Ashville NC. I'm finishing up my degree in IL and was wondering what salary is like for Nurses in Ashville. Are there good employment opportunities? Do you find it's hard to support yourself on a nursing salary in Ashville and live comfortably? I'm a single momma and hoping I can live comfortably on a nursing salary. Any thoughts, advise or opinions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks !
  13. I need suggestions. I'm currently a nursing student and am struggling to hear from my littmann classic iii stethascope. I have a slight hearing problem and think I am going to have to purchase a nicer one so I can hear. I need suggestions between the cardiology stethoscopes and he master cardiology? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I know I'm a student and most say don't spend he money but it's affecting my patient care if I can't hear. I also have considered the electronic ones but think that may be overkill. But at the same time maybe I will have to get it down the line. TIA!:)
  14. I will be starting my second semester and would appreciate some thoughts on the books I should purchase vs. Rent. Money is tight but I would like to purchase the books that I will use beyond my school years. Also, I already took pathophysiology but rented the book. I'm afraid that i could use that book so curious if I should go back and buy that book? Here's the breakdown of my classes and required books: ▪️Pathophysiology: understanding pathophysiology ▪️Pharmacology: pharamacology by kee ▪️Medsurg: medical-surgical nursing by Lewis Medical-surgical nursing clinical companion ▪️Assessments: TBD ▪️Phscyosocial concepts: Varcarolis Foundations Psych Mental Hlth Nsg by halter. 15. She said I had a complaint and that staff/family shouldn't be complaining about the apartment how the apartment looks after you work. (I'm pretty certain it was staff who complained and this isn't the first time she had complained and it was unfounded). She then wrote that the apartment should be clean, garbage out and the clothes laid out for the next. All of which I do! So I was wondering if I had a right to know what exactly the complaint was so I can make sure it doesn't happen again. When I asked her what the complaint was she said she couldn't tell me. Is this true? How am I suppose to make sure it doesn't happen again if she doesn't tell me?
  16. If I get reprimanded (verbal warning-tho it was done through an email) do I as a CNA have a right to know what the complaint exactly was? I know I can't be told who complained but do I have a right to know what the complaint entailed?
  17. I'm so relieved to have come across this post! I'm currently a CNA and starting the nursing program this fall. I'm a big introvert and get super anxious around people. I can only handle so much socializing as my anxiety gets high. I find the coworkers to be harder on me then patients considering where I work now it's very clickish and drama filled. Happy to know I'm not alone! I was worried I was biting off more than I could chew getting into nursing but I love the field. Those who work from home what do you? Since I'm not a fan of bedside, what other areas could I look into working?

Please tell me I'm not the only one...I'm currently a CNA and will be starting the nursing program this fall. However I already can't take the cattiness of the girls. It's frustrating. I see it as a CNA and am afraid nursing won't be any different. I thought I left that bs behind in high school. IV never been one for clicks and it's highly frustrating and disheartening. Should I expect this as a nurse too?
  19. Thanks for the input, I went with the Littmann Classic III :)
  20. Thanks for the help folks! I went with the Littmann Classic III and had it engraved. I figured why not, it was one a few bucks more than then classic II s.e
  21. My main concern is the sound quality. I have a bit of hearing troubles and if I have to pay a bit more for better sound then I don't mind. Also my rationale is I'd rather buy a good one now that will last me years versus buying two. Do you have a recommendation between Littmann Classic ii se vs the classic iii?
  22. I will be starting the nursing program this fall and torn on which stethoscope to get. Im torn between Littmann Classic II S.E and Littmann Classic III. Any recommendations/likes/dislikes anything to help me choose. Im new to all of this. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!!
  23. Thanks for the reassurance. Yeah I think it might just be The population I'm working with. I really have a passion for women's health (maternity/midwifery) and want to get my IBCLC. You just hear often that if you don't enjoy being a CNA that you won't like being a nurse. I mean some days I enjoy my job but I would not be happy doing it day after day.
  24. Thanks for responding. I just really dont enjoy working with the elderly or dealing with the families. Im super good with the educational part- the science behind the human body but im terrible with the interpersonal aspect. I have been working as a CNA for 2 years now (Same place) and I just am afraid that if I dont enjoy being a CNA there im screwed if I want to be a nurse:/
  25. I really could use some advice. I'm currently a CNA and will be starting the nursing program this fall. I want to get my BSN and eventually my masters. I'm struggling a bit at the moment because I really am not happy being a CNA working with the elderly. I'm afraid that my lack of interest in my current job as a CNA working in a assisted living is a red flag. I have loved all my science classes (anatomy, physiology,Pathophysiology).I'mexcited to start the nursing program. I'm afraid that working bedside isn't my thing. I don't enjoy it. Should I rethink my nursing choice? Do these concerns indicate that nursing would be a poor choice for me? I have a passion for women's health/maternity/midwifery. I am interested in becoming an lactation consultant. Regardless Should I seriously re think my career move?
