CBT? Did you not hear there's no time to pee, eat or anything else? You can't have 3 crisis going on, people yelling your name, and a mgr. saying" What did you expect? They all came here to die anyway!" in a Christian LTC. Even wkg noc, no time to go!

Try to do very well on NCLEX first. That helps. Apply at smaller hospitals, maybe rural ones if available. You may have to drive some distance at first. Search for preceptor/mentor programs at lg hospital. You may want to try better nursing homes. May be a lousy job, but you will learn meds, leading people, being in chg. Yes med-surg is great, but you need a job. Your nursing program doesn't have a placement program for after grad.? Study all the NCLEX/situation books you can. Try to recall ones on apps to see if you failed-they usu. don't tell you. Pass school, pass Board's. If you're any good at all, you'll get hired. Nursing is not just a job, it's a calling. It's not like a reg. job, doing A gets you B. It's long hrs you didn't signup for, but have to do. Unfair? Sometimes. Just don't think hiring procedure is gonna be like getting a job at MickeyD's.

Excuse me. I thought more might be discussed on here than how much our feet hurt, or what we wish we could say to our patients. How deep!

While "high"nurse takes care of old people, stealing meds they pay dearly for, I should ignore it. My DON told us we were crazy. If nurse gets fired from one facility, they're just gonna go to another! Is this how we show"sisterhood" as nurses? Makes me wonder now when StBdNursing publishes 6 pgs of surrendered, suspended, and revoked licenses in newsletter, just how many they've missed! I think your"Frozen" attitude-let it go-is doing our patients a GREAT DISSERVICE. I was not trained to be thst kind of a nurse.

I, too, wkd /c day nurse who handed out multiple doses to multiple patients. Whole/partial cards found empty, no pink sheets, and missing log sheets. All in 1 shift. We're told we were crazy. Home got pharm to resend new cards/papers, when we couldn't get existing Rx filled. Supposedly if more than 2 cards missing, DEA has to be notified? Would really like to see something done, but not at expense of my long career.

What SICK days? If I'd had sense to call off AT ALL, I might still have a job at some places. Should have used days to look for wk. Was wkg for idiots. Told my CNA's if they didn't cont.to wk mult. doubles (N-D) cos "under fire code", they'd chrg them w/ job abandonment. They just refused to hire more staff!

Chg. prob just afraid they'd have to restart it! Does facility have cont. ed lab where you could practice? Watch as many other starts as you can, ask ques. You may not get everybody on the 1st stick. Some are harder than others. Anything in AC gets too much motion, gets sore. Same w/ bk of hand. Just keep trying!

Been asked all of ques. in comment prev. You have to convince them your "lack of knowledge" won't be burden to yhers. HR doesn't realize you may know new tech's thst the others would like to hear. Don't pretend to know it all. They won't like it, neither will coworkers. Praise them as wonderful learning opportunity, ideal for first job, if they are.
