My district in southern Indiana currently has three unfilled vacancies and is always looking for subs. I love being a school nurse, however, the pay is not very good in my district. I believe this is the main reason for the vacancies. I'm the only nurse at a school with almost 800 students, typically seeing between 50 and 70 students in 6 hours daily. There is no difference in pay from nurses at smaller schools in the district with half the students. More students means more paperwork, phone calls, medications, etc. I wish it meant more pay as well!
