  1. Oh nice, which cardiac floor? & that's better salary than I expected.
  2. Awesome, thanks for the info! Congrats again! Just my curiosity, you don't have to answer both or even one, but what is the salary & what unit were you hired on? The people who got emails, do they know their unit? I wonder if they're still notifying people & that's why I haven't heard one way or another or if I slipped through the cracks/ under the radar. Either way I'll shoot her an email. Thanks again
  3. Hmm I was July 29th too but haven't heard anything. Checked junk & clutter folders, nothing. Even searched my email for her name/address. Did they at least say salary or if it was full time? I heard a rumor that getting into the new grad program doesn't mean you have a job at the end. Perhaps that's why there's no unit info? Know anyone else from match day that got in? When did they hear?
  4. congrats! Do you know what group you were in for match day? (they had 4 rounds of 30 people each). What unit were you hired on? When did you find out? Did you already work at umass as an aid or do your practicum there? Sorry for all the questions, I'm freaking out whether or not I got in.
  5. I also interviewed on match day (round 4 on 7/31/16) they told us we should find out this week (8/8-8/12). I still haven't heard anything. Have you?
  6. CalArmy: Yes I'm young. 21 and a new graduate nurse getting her first job. mrphil79: MA has both state and federal income tax in addition to SSN & medicare, but NH does not have state income tax. Just Federal, SSN, & Medcare. Plus NH does not have sales tax and the cost of living up there vs near Boston would be a lot less.....but yes I'm leaning towards the lower income job in pediatrics with a worse commute & higher cost of living. Even though the NH job pays more, costs less to live & has a simple commute. xlorgguss: I went to nursing school because I wanted to help people. Along the way I learned my niche is in working with children. If I looked back on my 17 year old self going into college and told her: you get your dream job, but will barley get by, or you can earn lots of money in a fine job. I think I'd be in the same boat. Gravitated towards the dream job, but tempted by the money in the ok job. NeoNurse2be: money may not buy happiness, but it would make my student loan collectors shut up haha. The dream job I'd have a little under $300 at the end of the month after rent, bills, groceries, gas, & loan payments. The other job would be an extra $38 a shift & $460/mo plus more in my pocket after a lower cost of living. I'm gravitating towards my dream job but am tempted by the money/easier living.
  7. yup. The PCS company in TN that handles the MA BON's paperwork is just awful. You're on hold over 45min, theyre rude on the phone, give vague answers, and just keep telling you to check back, check back, check back. Theyre so behind on processing that they are only opening stuff that was received on 6/6 now (6/23) that's absurd!
  8. I guess it comes down to job I love for less money or job that's ok for more money. NH job pays more, has no income tax (state), & the cost of living is less there. But the MA job is in pediatrics. Ugh I'm torn.
  9. Nope. Still waiting. I'm livid. They cashed my check 2 months ago, took my money & are not doing anything to help me. If I don't get my ATT & test soon I may lose my job offer.
  10. Help! I'm trying to decide which job to take. Hospital A: $24.50/hr in MA with ~25% of that gone to income tax, but lots to do in the area Hospital B: $27.70/hr in NH with no income tax, but far from home & middle of nowhere 1) Pediatrics job at hospital A- Dream field, hospital A has an association with my dream job in which I could be hired at after only 6mo-1year of working there. 2) Neuroscience job at hospital B- great nursing staff all young relatively new nurses, they hang out in one big group after work in the boring area & make the best of it, but the neuro patients are adult population and mostly non-verbal. 3) PACU job at hospital B- opportunity to work in pedi PACU a few shifts per schedule, fun fast paced job, max of 2:1 patient nurse ratio, previous pacu experience as an aid. However, most nurses there are older and do not hang out outside of work. So.... Do I take the dream job, in a lively area, but less pay Do I take the 'boring job', with great pay & great co-workers Do I take the interesting job, with great pay but no social life
  11. Hey fellow nursing graduates! I graduated from UNH in NH, but am looking to become licensed in Massachusetts. The wait for my ATT and exam date is killing me seeing so many other 2016 graduates already testing & becoming RNs. Here's my timeline: -Registered with Pearson Vue 3/8 -Mailed my application to PCS (the paperwork company for MA, located in TN) 4/20 -Acknowledgment of receipt of application 4/27 -Graduated 5/21 -COG & Transcripts sent out 6/10 It is now 6/15 and I have not yet received acknowledgment of receipt of my transcripts from PCS, nor have I received my ATT from P.V. Based on it taking a week for them to receive my application, I'm guessing my transcripts wont arrive until 6/17. MA BON is so backed up right now that a normal 3 business day turnover is looking closer to 10-15 business days for them to process everything & send P.V the ok for me to test. Anyone else going nuts waiting for their ATT when their classmates have already tested?
  12. Hello all future RN's! I am looking to bond with other New grads anxiously awaiting their ATTs, test days, & results. I am applying to the Massachusetts BON and went to school in New Hampshire. I registered with PV & sent in my MA BON application on 4/20 and got confirmation it was received on 4/27. (for those of you who don't know, MA recently hired a company in TN to do all of their paperwork) so it took 7 days for my application to go from NH to TN. I graduated 5/21 & UNH sent out our transcripts 6/2 so they should have gotten there by today. How long should I expect the MA BON to process my transcripts if they received them today? Then how long do they take to send PV the ok? Then how long does PV take to send me the ATT? Once I go to schedule my MA exam, how far out are the available test dates? Several of my classmates received their ATTs this week, but they are testing for a NH license not MA so perhaps NH BON is not as backed up. ALSO, if anyone has the 35 page study guide I would really appreciate it! my email is [email protected]
