  1. Hi, I'm having the same dilemma. Can you tell me which program you chose and why? Thanks.
  2. I'm sorry I haven't looked into the Medstar. I did most of the leg work to enroll in the SDSU program and between all the background checks and coordinating my own clinicals I switched to a different program- Nebraska Methodist College RN refresher and finished 6 months ago. There's an online portion that takes time but if you do a section each day, you can get it done pretty quickly. The best thing about that program is you show up to Omaha for a long weekend, and finish your clinical hours in 3 days and boom you're done. Friday is BLS certification and lab skills at their school and Sat/Sunday is clinical in their hospital on a really great floor to do clinicals. You have a preceptor with you all weekend and I only ever had 1 or 2 patients. I believe they will help line up a nearby hotel as well. This was a way better option for me than months of clinicals somewhere else. You just need to make sure it meets the requirements set by your state board of nursing.
  3. Thanks for your response. I heard from the BON. They said my BSN does not count and I will need to take a refresher. I'm disappointed...
  4. Hi nurses, and thanks in advance for your help. I've written to my board of nursing about this and while waiting, I thought I would ask the same question here. I am due to renew my license this coming October. I graduated with my ASN in 2008 but I have not worked as an RN since 2011, so it's been over 5 years. From Aug. 2015-May 2016, I was in school full-time to complete my BSN and just finished:) woo hoo! But, my question is this, do I need to take an RN refresher course to renew my license now? I have not worked b/c I had 2 kids and moved 4 times in the last 5 years(my husband is in the Army). In my state(NE), their renewal criteria states that I either need 500 hours of work(don't have that), must have graduated from a school of nursing in the last 2 years, or need a RN Refresher Course... So, does my last year of school that I just completed count as a nursing program(I'm hoping it does)? I definitely took nursing courses, including Assessment plus completed over 200 clinical hours. Or, do you think I need to take an RN refresher course? Thanks for any input or advice you have!
  5. Sorry I'm not able to answer your question, but am wondering the same thing. I'm looking into the online refresher from South Dakota State, is that the one you are talking about? Did you end up enrolling?
