  1. Yeah it happens! And it can happen literally any time. People decline in October, but they may also decide not to do it all the way up to December.
  2. I don't remember how long they gave us to do the background check, but you could probably do it from your phone. And there's no say in where you go for clinical. You're just assigned whatever. Class is one day and clinical is two days. If your clinical is an hour away, you'll be away from home all day since clinical are 10.5 hours each day. Class is just 8:30 to 6pm.
  3. I don't know if things changed, but we received our student IDs on the day of orientation. They did an overview of things, and then we went to Wilbur Cross to take our photos and have them printed out. In regards to prereqs, they had taken the highest grade. They really emphasized that it was a bunch of things that they took into consideration for admission NOT just our grades. Background testing information will be given out at orientation. Don't do a background check prior, because they will make you do it again and pay another $65. They'll give you a paper and you do the background check online. I haven't been drug tested at all during the program, but I know some clinical sites had to be. I think Middlesex Hospital. Lastly, like someone else said, parking is expensive. Hartford Hospital is $9 a day and Yale and St. Raphael's is $12 a day. And they don't really take into consideration where you live when they choose the sites.
  4. AP fills up the slowest, Storrs fills up the fastest. Clinical sites are supposed to be near the campus/where you live, but that's not always the case. Be prepared to drive an hour away for clinical. The school assigns you your clinical placement as well, you don't choose. You can get financial aid, but it's not a lot. UConn has a financial aid office that can help you out. In the beginning you pay a $500 deposit that goes towards your first semester tuition.
  5. yeah an outstanding pre req is fine. i would probably take it in the summer, though, and not the fall.
  6. I think you have to copy and paste the link into your browser instead of clicking the link
  7. oops, lemme change that setting, it'll take like 2 seconds
  8. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1023765231010757/ Here's the group!!
  9. I'm going to Storrs, too, congratulations! I'm excited to meet everyone as well. Do you think we should start a Facebook group for everyone accepted (all campuses) and then August admits can join later??
  10. I got my official letter yesterday with one outstanding pre-req left, so I think you were looked at for this cohort. Today might be the day for you because my letter was processed by the post office two days ago according to the date on the envelope!! If you don't hear anything today I would call and find out if the letter got lost in the mail or if they did end up pushing your application to August. Admissions informed me that people who were not accepted this cohort were not denied, but that their files were pushed off until the next review date.
  11. Yes it is almost completely full. I heard through email. I called earlier last week and was told the lady was really busy so I felt bad. During the call I was also told they were still looking over applications (hence the delay and why we are getting letters this week). I think Storrs and Stamford are mostly getting their letters Tuesday or Wednesday!
  12. Did you find out via email or letter? And congratulations!
  13. Got accepted into Storrs! Everyone who didn't hear back yet, she was still mailing out letters yesterday so don't worry just wait!!!
  14. Congratulations!! Still waiting Do you mind sharing your stats??
  15. Just a little update but I was told next week decisions will be sent out! Storrs is almost full.
  16. Yeah, end of July now the wait is getting to be too much! I was told everyone is going to be mailed out a letter, regardless of the decision.
  17. My friend is in the Waterbury cohort right now and she loves it! Her clinicals are around Hartford. Anyway, I think they're more lenient about outstanding pre-reqs right now. My other friend applying for June talked to one of the people who looks over the admissions and she told him to just go ahead and apply. Anyway, one of the clinical leaders emailed the nursing school asking when we would hear back and they said soon! As for the form, I have no idea : ( I'm hoping both an email AND letter.
  18. I'm in CT and at the hospital I make $12.50 base pay and at a nursing home I make $13.50 for days and $17.50 for nights.
  19. My first choice was Storrs, but I'm honestly open to any of the campuses! What about you? I heard we're getting our statuses soon
  20. I know there's already a page for UConn CEIN, but this is more pointed at those that applied for the 6/30 deadline! Hopefully acceptances are coming soon, and we're probably all curious about each other. So if you want to share anything about your stats or when we hear back feel free to comment!
  21. I applied for that deadline too! I'm waiting nervously for the letter and hoping we get it within the next two weeks!
  22. @wanderawake I can't answer all of your questions, but it sounds like you can keep your job as long as you can balance that and the schoolwork since you don't have something going on every day. The campuses that do the program are Waterbury, Avery Point, Storrs, and Stamford. It begins every January of the next year. There are 3 review dates: the ends of January, June, and August. You need at least a 3.0 gpa to get in, and you need at least a B in the pre-reqs, C for stats. The class size does vary per year. For 2017 they're expanding the class size a little bit. However, it is competitive!
  23. @asystole4 12 months is really accelerated! At least you'll be done in half a year now! How many programs did you apply to?
  24. Did you hear back even though you didn't complete the pre-req yet? edit: I read through the whole thing again and see that it is okay!
  25. So, I'm going to apply to ABSN programs this summer. I'm hoping for spring starts. I would love to hear from those who are currently in ABSN programs or are applying as well! It's so nerve wracking to apply, and I'm always wondering about the stats of others. Hopefully this thread helps others who are worried as well!
