I feel like it's rare to find Derm NP's on here! I am interested in becoming one and just was wondering any advice you would give to someone looking to get their foot in the door for the specialty and what route you went to get to where you are? I'll be graduating with my BSN by the end of the year and would love any input!

Hi all! I'm currently approaching my final semester in nursing school and know that I am most interested in furthering my education to be a Nurse Practitioner and specialize in Dermatology. I live in Florida and have heard that this specialty is competitive and the lack of a set path has me questioning how to get some headway in the field. I was wondering if any nurses/NP's with experience in Dermatology have advice on how to best get my foot in the door as currently I am debating on attaining the year of hospital floor nurse experience while I figure things out or jumping straight into a position that may pay less initially, but will help with specializing in the future. Any advice helps! Thank you

Hi, I'm currently in nursing school in Jacksonville, Florida and am thinking about different career paths in nursing and how I could get a head start now to help myself in the future. I'm also contemplating going to NP school once I am eligible. I'm extremely interested in Aesthetics but keep hearing and seeing different things about what an aesthetic RN is allowed to do within their scope of practice in Florida. I'm 21, graduate next year and just looking for any tips or advice that could help me learn more about this field and how I can get a head start. Anything about salary, schools, certifications, classes- whatever helps! Thank you!

Have you heard from JU yet today?

That's good though at least we can hear something back! I'm doing the same, I know that JU has actually 57 seats for the spring as opposed to the 35 in the fall but hopefully you get accepted for this fall!

Mine was the same! Do you know if they tell you like individualized feedback on what you did wrong if you don't get accepted?

For sure! The workshop is helpful, all of the students are so nice and answer all of your questions so it's good. You said JU is June 10th right?

The questions I remember from UNF were 1. What is one thing that is not on your transcript that you believe could help you in nursing? 2. What kind of nurse would you want to have? 3. Tell us about a time where you had to use your integrity and I think the last question had to do with what qualities you would elicit as a nurse! I definitely felt like JU had broader questions and a more relaxed feel and UNF was more nerve wracking but that could be just because I hadn't gone through an interview before and was more prepared by the time I went to JU

I interviewed with UNF in the Spring and didn't make it, this is my first time with JU though! And same, other than that I haven't heard anything which makes the wait worse

The wait is the worst! Especially cause I haven't received anything at all from then since interviewing! My interview is at 10:30 for UNF. Is this your first time applying to both?

I applied to both JU as well as UNF, interviewed for JU on April 7th and have an interview for UNF in June, have you heard anything from JU since your interview?
