  1. Did you find the Facebook group yet? It's up.
  2. Hey. Sept 2016 cohort member here. We just started clinicals this week in long term care. We spend 4 days in each rotation. You can also see this information on the UR current students section of the website. Look up academic calendar. Our next rotation will be acute care. I'm going to purposley refrain from saying exactly where we do our rotations. You will not choose your capstone until your third semester. In NY you do not learn to place IV or work with blood in school. You have to get certified. You usually learn that when you graduate or after you get hired. The job will usually pay for it for you. There is also a Facebook group for your cohort. Let me know if you need help finding it. January 2017 calendar http://son.rochester.edu/assets/pdf/schedules/2017%20Spring%20January10-18-16.pdf
  3. Did you complete your FASFA?
  4. Oh cool. Maybe my dog, Danika, can have playdates. Did you work while you were in the program or do you work currently? I am glad we share the same sentiment about this packet.
  5. Hello, I was accepted into the ABPNN for Sep 2016. I still have not received my packet of information and have some questions that I am sure current and former ABPNN students have all had before. I'm moving from NYC and currently do not have a car. I have a 44lb husky-mix dog that I was wondering if I should bring to school with me. I understand if I do this, this will limit my housing choices. Do you think I can take care of a low maintenance dog while I attend the program? How did you guys go about finding housing? I am interested in Westbrooke commons, and Rustic Village. Do any of you want to sell your used books to me? Please DM me if you can help me out. I look forward to attending the University of Rochester. I have heard only wonderful comments about the school.

  7. I had recieved a msg from an unknown number this morning and it was from Nancy. I will be starting school this September, and they are mailing the letter out today. It will include housing and financial information. This has been a long journey for me, and I'm turning down PA school to become a NP. However last year I didn't have any options turn down. I told Nancy it was painful to wait so long to hear news. Good luck my friends and future classmates.
  8. Someone called the week of Mar 6th to schedule a phone interview. I had it scheduled Mar 15th, and she gave me the name on the interviewer. I googled her prior to the interview to see her role in the program since I was told she was a faculty member. I found out she is about my same age and is pursing her Doctorate. The questions included: 1. What do you think is the role of a nurse? 2. What qualities do you think a nurse should have? 3. Why do you want to be a nurse? 4. This is an accelerated program that has a test every Monday, what makes you think you will be a good candidate for the program? Afterwards, I spent 15 minutes picking her brain for more information about the program. Attrition rates? Post-graduation opportunities? Academic support?. I had my boyfriend prep me the night before the interview since he is already in medical school and has superior interview experience than me. When a interviewer asks, "Do you have anymore questions?" have a few ready to go. She told me admitted students would be notified in June! That month cannot come sooner. I am from the Bay Area, CA and currently live in NYC. I am ready for snow. Clean snow.
