  1. I'm really sorry you came here for advice and received so much negative, talking down to!! I have observed this as well in other posts I have read on this site. I can understand how it could slip out... We ALL have let things slip or had things come out differently than we intended before!! I would suggest that you go back and talk to the manager again and ask if there is anything that you could do to rectify this. Reality is that a good manager would have called everyone in and put his/her foot down!! If then others can't work well together and treat others in this manner... I wouldn't want them on my team. Granted things could get difficult until everything turns around and people are replaced BUT....I would let them all know that they either get along or move along! So sorry that you have encountered the eating of the young or in this case the new! And I remain, after many many years, appalled that this profession treats their own in this manner!! So, hoping that of all the lessons you have found here, one is to never with hold training or knowledge to suit yourself (no wonder she is making less!!) and that you would never ever treat others the way they have (after all it's not your fault he gave you more and her less) and... Hoping you will never ever treat others as those here, who have talked down to you and betrayed you when you were simply asking for advice. Keep your chin up and obviously watch your back! It will either turn around or you will need to find an environment that is indeed a team environment. Best of luck!!
  2. That was helpful... Chastising her was really uncalled for!
  3. Sorry... Not comprehending the analogy. But thanks. As an infection Control nurse for 15 of my 40 years... Suggesting someone use soap and water for an obviously minor cut over saline... Does not take a Ph.D. Juat not getting it... But again, I would always be the first inline to help an elderly lady... Or gent!
  4. I call Many physicians by their first name because it's their preference. I can't imagine calling a friend Doctor... Unless it's somewhat in jest. And I also can't imagine any of them saying, "I know more than you"
  5. In my state, LPNs mainly work in a clinic setting and not hospitals so yes one would be giving vaccines! Nurses aides do not unless of course you are working in a home care area for a company who has nurses who delegate to the caregivers to provide medications in the home. Then it's possible. Again in my state, when LPNs were still used, they basically did everything the RN dos except give certain IV cardiac like meds. And in many nursing homes... It's entirely possible the LPN is the only nurse in the building!! You can be sure the director of nursing is not going to get out of bed at 2am and come in to administer the immunization for you!
  6. It's nice to see that you still recognize how to help others... Obviously... By many of the comments below... You are one of the few who realize that you are in a helping profession! To the one comment "Less aggravation for me"....but we are in the helping profession... what about "helping" others in general! This poor lady may have been using her last $5 until her social security check comes. People go without meds altogether or uses half what is prescribed every day because they can't afford it. That however is not the bigger point.... It is that people in general A) are rude and obnoxious and rarely treat others with a tiny bit of respect. And B) people generally will not help others because it is less aggravation for them! I commend you for trying to HELP this lady! Just my observation after working in health care probably longer than most of you have been alive! It doesn't matter that one has any type of degree or NOT what matters is that this person was willing to help this lady and the obviously rude and obnoxious pharmacist needs to retire because he doesn't know how to treat people kindly! I hope you are taking your mothers business elsewhere!! I sure would!! By the way... The writer of the original scenario could just as easily have a doctorate... Bet she still would not treat anyone the way the pharmacist did.... And I don't care how many degrees he has!
  7. I am looking for policy regarding falls in the hospice patient population Thanks in advance
