I'm 19! I completed my prereqs during my last 2 years of high school at a local community college. I graduated with my high school diploma and Associate in Pre-Nursing in June 2016. I had applied for the BSN program for Fall 2016 but was placed on the waitlist and didn't get in. I reapplied for Spring 2017 and got in! Just started my first semester of a 2-year BSN program last week :)

I googled "apartments near WSU spokane" to get a general idea of what's out there. Then I googled the name of several apartment complexes to check out their specific website. I made some calls to make sure the information on the websites are accurate regarding the rate, lease types offered, and availability. Set up some appointments to visit some apartments that you're interested in. I also looked into the offers on Craigslist. I found a 2 bedroom basement apartment on Craigslist for me and my sister which worked out perfectly for us. I also have the "undergraduate advising hold" and no assigned advisor. The hold is there so that you don't register until the nursing school resistration date which is Dec 20. The hold will be removed by WSU when it's time to register for classes, like Nicole said. And it's best that you complete your FAFSA asap!

Really? Almost all the apartments I looked into had 6 month leases which didn't work for me because I was looking for month to month rent. Check out University Area Housing! It's walking distance to downtown, offers 6 month lease, and not too expensive either.

Hi everyone! How is the preparation going? Hope you all have successfully submitted all the paperwork and made housing arrangements. Just wanted to let you guys know the I called WSU Spokane and found out that orientation on January 5th will begin at 8AM and it typically runs until noon. Most students tend to arrive around 7:30AM though. You can call and confirm that if you'd like. Have you all purchased the required materials? - books, modules, scrubs, polo shirt And other supplies? - stethoscope, pen light, leather shoes - Karen

Congratulations to you all ! :) Hahah I definitely need to brush up on my A&P too. I was also advised to learn some basic knowledge from a pathophysiology book so that first semester goes a little smoother. This program is going to be far from easy, but I'm excited to start! I'm coming from the Seattle area so this whole experience is going to be new to me! There's so much to do before the semester starts...

The interview letter said that final admission decisions will be emailed BY November 15... So maybe we won't get an email on exactly the 15th? aaronrock, did you complete your prereqs at WSU or are you a transfer student?

About a week and half more of waiting... Has anyone called or received any updates?

irinkao, your interviewers were probably ahead of schedule haha that turned out to be good for you! Mine was at 8:40 AM so I think you got called in while I was finishing up with my interview.

Really? I honestly don't think you have anything to worry about. You have a great GPA and TEAS score. Wish you the best girl! Just curious, what were your interview times? Mine was at 8:40. Would love to know if I may have met you without realizing it or missed you?!

Wow, that's a lot less people than I expected! That guarantees your admission, I bet hahah I met some people in the waiting room who were from Eastern while a few were transfers like me. I met two people who were from the Seattle area like I am which was nice. WSU, Eastern, and Whitworth have reserved spots so I'm nervous!

Nicole, did a good majority of your WSU nursing friends apply for spring semester? I heard less people apply for Spring since most people finish their prereqs within the typical academic time frame (August/Sept to May/June). Are you applying for Spring because you ended up staying at WSU for another semester? I'm just nervous because I know there aren't a lot of spots for transfer students...

Hmm okay. My interviewers were older women as well and they wrote some notes in the beginning but not alot. Maybe it's because they have so much experience that they just know right away if you're a good fit for the program... idk. I asked a few people about it after my interview and they all had different answers. Some interviewers wrote alot while some just listened for the most part. Maybe I'm just overthinking lol

So does that mean it's a bad thing if interviewers didn't write much?

Did you guys notice how much the interviewers were writing on their question sheets? Some people were saying they barely wrote anything and others had interviewers who took a lot of notes. I'm just curious on what you guys had noticed and how you interpreted it.

Mine went well. I got emotional within the first few minutes of my interview when I shared my story on what made me want to pursue nursing as a career. But like Nicole said, I hope it left a good impression. One of my interviewers was a bit intimidating actually but she seemed to soften up halfway through the interview. Overall, they seemed interested in what I had to say. Here's to another 3 weeks of the waiting game...

Thank you! Congratulations to you and irinkao too! :) No, I don't know anyone else who applied to Yakima. All of my nursing friends applied to schools closer to the Seattle area so I'm kinda alone too lol

Yes I did! My interview is on Saturday October 22!!! I freaked out when I saw the comments on this post because I hadn't received an email in my inbox... I ended up finding it in my spam folder for some reason lol. The email was actually sent to me on the 6th.

irinkao, I'd say you're a very good candidate especially with a 3.8 GPA! I'm also a transfer student. I took college courses at a local community college during my last 2 years of high school through the Running Start program, so I was able to graduate with my Associate in Pre-Nursing along with my high school diploma this past June. Both my prereq and cumulative GPAs are in the 3.7 range. My TEAS score is Advanced. I have a good amount of hours volunteering in the ICU/PCU at a hospital, and I currently work as a CNA at an assisted living/memory care facility for residents with dementia. This is actually my 2nd time applying. I applied for Fall 2016 and was placed on the waitlist, but I didn't get a call before classes started. So you can imagine how nervous and scared I am right now!

Hi everyone! I applied to WSU's BSN program for Spring 2017 in Spokane. I'm just wondering if anyone else on this site also applied, even if you applied to a different campus? If you don't mind sharing, where do you stand - GPAs, TEAS score, volunteer/work experience, college where you completed your prereqs? Any advice on the application process would also be helpful!
