  1. Good afternoon, Does anybody have any experience with the good moral character clause in MA? I messed up pretty badly and I am worried that my dream of becoming a nurse is in jeopardy. The other night my boyfriend and I had an argument that got pretty nasty. He was cornering me, so I shoved him out of the way. He then called the police and had me arrested. I go to court at the end of this month. I do have a lawyer, who believes that I will not be charged since it is a relatively minor offense, and I have not had any other issues with the law. My boyfriend called the police for this to be a "wake up call" for me. I have been having issues with depression and have been through a lot. I have been so busy with school that I had not been as active with treatment as I should be. The court ordered that I undergo a psych eval and remain compliant with medication (which I have been doing). The bottom line is that I believe I will have to report this even if I am not charged. On the website, it mentions that anything that the court ordered to be done must be reported. Will something like this prevent me from becoming a nurse? I am already a nurse's aide and have been working at the same hospital for 3 years, and can provide excellent references. My mental health issues have never affected my work life, but I worry that if they find all of this out, I will look unstable and like a liability. I am starting up counseling and other additional treatment. If you don't have anything helpful to say, please do not comment. I know that I made a mistake and I deeply regret it. But nursing is what I was meant to do, and I would like some insight if any of you have had any experience with this. Thanks in advance
  2. Update: got a 90 on the exam :) Thanks everyone!
  3. That's a really good point. I've been told that the feeling of not knowing anything persists until you've been a nurse for 5 years or so. So reassuring, lol! I hate not being confident/knowledgeable in what I'm doing, but I've come to realize that the only way around that is years and years of experience.
  4. Thank you all for the advice. I'm ditching the "read every page word-for-word" approach that I was used to, and I've decided to go with saunders, as well as my ATI book. My exam is next Friday, so I'll update you on whether or not it worked :)
  5. I have this book! I think it's going to have to come to that.
  6. I wish I could say the same about my maternity professor She just reads off of powerpoints.
  7. I have such a hard time with cramming! I'm the type of person who can't just "skim" the chapters and do well. I have to read it to understand it. There's just so much, that I may have to suck it up and not read everything. Do you have any tips?
  8. I was just curious... do most schools have an entire semester of maternity, or is all the material crammed into a few weeks? I'm used to lengthy reading assignments, but the amount of reading/information that we're expected to know in just 5 weeks is insane and unrealistic. How am I supposed to retain information from 6 chapters for one lecture, especially when some chapters can be 50+ pages long? I'm just frustrated because I'm wondering if this is the norm. I thought maternity was supposed to be an entire semester, or at least half of one.
