  1. I know I shouldn't beat myself up, but just had a parent come in this morning to let me know that her son's ankle may be fractured. He came in yesterday with a steady gait. There was no swelling at all, no bruising, and had full ROM. I tried to offer him ice but he didn't want that, he said it felt better by the time I was done my assessment. I didn't even call mom about it because he checked out just fine. I know we don't have x-ray eyes, but just wish I would have caught it.
  2. At my school, I run a "Red Cross Club" for 5th-8th grade. We meet once a week after school for about an hour, and someone from the Red Cross comes out and teachers about fire safety, disaster safety, blood drives, etc. They try to make games out of their lessons, so the kids really enjoy it. The Red Cross does the majority of the work, I just need to be there to be the staff sponsor.
  3. Hi all! I'm a first year certified school nurse and I'll be giving the puberty talk today to the fifth grade girls (I have a male teacher that agreed to cover the boys). I have a video that covers a majority of the discussion for me, but wanted to see if any of you had any words of advice? Are any of you in charge of the puberty talk? What kinds of questions were you asked that I should prepare myself for? Thank you!
