  1. Good luck to all on this thread, i just read a lot of your posts reminiscing (spelling?) on what I used to do two years ago. I am a 204 student who is getting pinned as a nurse may 14th but who's counting. The excitement and anticipation is blissful to say the least. With that said i have worked my a*s off to be here. It is true what has been said about Nassau's etrictian rate for upper level nursing courses (105 and 203). Its about 45%. The tests are HARD......But with that said My grades were 101-A, 105-A, 203-B (this was by far the hardest course i have ever taken and i have a Bachelors from Fordham) , and 204 I'd say I'm on my to possibly that A. I have worked so hard. THE PROGRAM IS AMAZING. Shine bright from the very first day you walk in. The professors notice you if you do, find your "nurse voice" from the beginning. If you can take Dr. Murphy (i think B section) for 101. She will touch your life and you wont forget her. At every clinical experience bedside RN's as well as nurse managers willingly say "Nassau's nurses are ahead of the rest" and "somehow you guys come out of school knowing more than the rest of them. " well think about it you learn in two years what takes them 4 so it is literally DRILLED into your head and not to mention we are paying 6k for what others are paying 100k for that RN license. Yes it is true you will have to get that BSN to make yourself competitive after you graduate but everyone says thats the easy part. I am exploring my options now. Professors call this ADN boot camp which it it. With that said anyone can do it if they want it bad enough. I have 2 small children, a friend of mine has 4 kids all ages. Good luck to everyone. 2 years goes fast, the relationships you make there are amazing. Everyone is in the same boat and you "suffer" together but during the breaks you rejuvenate and go back for more. Anyone you know who knocks the program bite you toungue and smile, you will have the same RN license as they have and probably have no loans. Well i ranted enough, lots of luck going all of you way, and to those who didnt get in either, try again. I didnt get in until my second try either. Nothing good is ever easy, remember that. And congratulations to all of my fellow peer RNs who will be pinned may 2020!!!!
  2. Yea I am in the day program, yes they gave a math test , it's everything that you found on teas , long division, multiplication and division of mixed numbers , things like that
  3. Yes there are 3 required books, kozier fundamentals of nursing 10th edition is the main one. The uniform top and jacket is purchased at scrubs USA in Hempstead. If you can't get there there is another orientation 8/25 and they said they will be there selling uniforms. Congratulations.
  4. Yes ! I want to hear if you registered already if they kick you out of what you registered for and if they tell what hospitals the sections are . Thanks everyone , and also how long were you there and do they look at your autobiography in front of you lol, I find that it's hard to write about myself
  5. Don't drown yourself in loans, you'll be sorry in the end
  6. I am in your boat, I did not apply to expensive BSN programs because I absolutely refuse to spend a bulk of my earnings after school on loans. Suffolk I could pay out of pocket while I'm there and have no loans when I'm out, which by the way I got into Nassau as well and I think I will be attending their nursing program as I only need 7 or 8 credits a semester. I also have bachelors degree in something else. After Nassau or suffolk I can do my BSN while I work taking one class a semester , there is no rush , I have a husband , a house , 2 small children. Loans are out of the question, if you read many articles today on college loans they are just getting out of hand. I disagree with the previous poster, get your RN , then work and do your BSN slow. It'll always be there , lots of luck
  7. I also applied through admissions and got my acceptance letter through the mail. I don't know anyone who ever got an email.
  8. Ya I looked into that farmingdale program it's a great option, however ur sciences have to be 5 years old or less at the start of the program. My a and p1 is from 2010 so I don't make the cutoff. I guess in a way it's good bc I run a hpusehold and have 2 small children so slow is the key for me . Another good bsn option is the suny empire one, if you read on their website they have some sort of "contract" with Nassau and if you keep a 3.0 average you basically get right in and can get the bsn in 2 -3 years while working. I think that's the option for me. Suffolk doesn't have "bridge program" so to speak even though getting into an RN-bsn program isn't nearly as competitive as a regualr RN ADN program. Who knows what will be in 2 years when we graduate. Anyway just another option I think good for those of us with a family. I also got accepted to Suffolks nursing program but it think I am going to Nassau. Suffolk requires an additional science course called health assessment and a nursing success course and they suggest a nursing calculations course, that's 12 credits instead of the 7 I would need with nassaus nursing 101. Anyway, just felt like being informative lol, have a great night everyone
  9. Oh ok you went according to previous posts. I didn't know . That's what they said to me with admissions they said don't even bother . I have had nursing as my major for over a week now and it wasn't allowing me to register so I was getting annoyed and called and that what they said. Anyway I live in western Suffolk so plainview or Huntington would work for me , hope I get plainview though. Closer to where I have to drop my kids off , I have a 2 and a 3 year old. Yikes , should be an interesting 2 years, better enjoy our summers lol
  10. Xteena how did you register ? I was specifically told by director of admissions not to register bc they will delete everything at orientation , how did you know what hospital was which section ?
  11. Mines the 17th at 9am. They said it would take about an hour. Didn't realize we would have to write an autobiography lol
  12. I got my letter. Got in . Lots of luck to everyone who got in and everyone who didn't I wish you best of luck in the future with your nursing career
  13. I called they said that they're on their way. They said that the non acceptance letters were mailed before the acceptance so everyone who still hasn't received , it's a good sign.
  14. Is there anyone else on this forum that still didn't get a letter ?
  15. I did apply through admissions , no I did not receive an email.
