Ruined my chances of a BSN? Have to be an ADN forever??
Best thing to do is ask the school you wish to apply at. Each school has different requirements. I couldn't have gotten in with a C minus in chem. I could have 1 C in my science courses and the rest had to be a B or above. The sciences were A and P I and II, micro, nutrition, and chemistry. My GPA had to be above a 2.5 but I was strongly encouraged to get it at a 3.5 or above since the schools around here are so competitive and it is based on points. A couple of the schools that I looked into attending said that if I took a higher level chem course and did well they would use that instead because I was very worried about taking Chem. I got my B so it all worked out but you should talk to an admissions nursing advisor and find out what they want.

Best tablet/laptop for Nursing School?
I love my surface pro 4. Best purchase I have made. I was reticent to shell out the money for it but I am so glad that I did. So much better than my old laptop. I love writing my notes directly on the power points using the pen. It's lightweight and is also very quick to open and respond. Congrats on your grant and good luck in school!

What to do with a bf who just wants me for my degree
Definitely dump him. There are good men out there, he is not one of them. I'm in nursing school full time and I quit my job in July to do so. I worked part time last semester as a home health aid but it wasn't worth the small money and hassle to continue to do so and so I ended that job as well, with my family's full support. My husband is working his butt off to support me and our 6 children. Yes, 6. Also, 5 of them are not his children, they are his stepchildren. My oldest son (22) is also working at Walmart and living at home to help out until I graduate. That's what good men do, that's what a good person does. They support each other. They don't' mooch, they don't use, they don't financially and emotionally abuse other people to get what they want.

Help me with vital please..
How long are you taking the heart rate? For a full minute there's no way it could be 17-20. Now if it's for 15 seconds then you need to multiply that by 4 to get your HR. I'm also not understanding how you are working as a CNA without this very basic knowledge.

Study Help
Are you given any sort of test blueprint before your exams? I always start there. If not, study guides are your friend. The more nclex style questions that you can get your hands on for those topics the better. Use your online questions for your text if you have access to that as well. You have to study smarter, not harder. As someone else said you need to know your learning style as well. I am an auditory and kinestetic learner. So for me writing notes in class helps as well as listening to myself read off and answer nclex style questions and the power points in my car or during my bath, or whenever I can. Repetition, repetition, repetition is my friend.

1hr Drive to Nursing School
If this is the school that you really desire to go to, make the drive. I'm currently driving an hour plus to school three times a week for classes and clinicals. I live up in the Pocono Mountains and the school that I wanted was an hour south of me, but it is probably the best in the area (96% NCLEX pass rate, all of my friends who have attended loved it and got jobs quickly, the hospitals that they do clinicals at are the best in the area, etc.). I hemmed and hawwed about having to make that drive in the very wee hours of the morning but I think it will be worth it. I'm only in week 2 but I am feeling good about my choice to attend this college. It's only a couple of years out of my life. I figure if I was able to manage 2 years of corequisite and prereqs into one calendar year last year in order to make this reality, than I can drive for a bit. Besides, the drive gives you an opportunity to listen to your recorded lectures daily. If I can do it, with 6 kids (2 special needs, 1 severe special needs), a husband, and working part time, then you can do it. If I had the option to move closer, I absolutely would, but I don't. $$$ issues and my 4 school age children love their schools, not to mention that my husband loves where we live and he and my oldest son work up here as do I. If you are able to move closer than do so.

Male nurses in OB
Yes you can! Others have already pointed out that some women may not be as comfortable with a male nurse but you definitely can do it. I have a former patient whose husband is a L & D nurse and I know he has an interest in midwifery. He'd make a fantastic midwife. I know there aren't many in the OB/GYN field but they do exist.
