I've recently completed my BSN after working for several years with my ASN on a Med-Surg floor and prior to that, my LPN. My end goal has always been to move up the ladder towards management and/or supervision. I will continue my education, working towards my MSN in the fall. However, most management positions only require the BSN, so I'm hoping to not have to wait until my MSN to make the switch. It seems like all management postings want management experience though... I have 3 years inpatient experience and another 2 years clinic nursing experience. I'm charge trained and ACLS certified. My question is- is there a transitional job that anyone would recommend? Like risk management or case management? Any other certifications that would make me a more appealing candidate? I don't think anyone will hire me as a department manager etc. with only floor nursing experience. (If someone asked my 10-year plan, my dream job would be the DON of a rural hospital or similar.) I want to make sure I make smart choices for my career. Thank you!

Can I possibly get a few replies on how long it took MI to post your license to LARA/BoN? My best friend who tested last year said hers was up in 24hrs after boards, another friend said 4 hours and hers were up! Its been almost 2 days and nothing. Hoping this doesn't mean I failed!!!

I've done research on this site but most of the replies are at least 3 years old and I'm hoping for some updated stats, I really hope someone can help me. We are going to relocate our family to Florida and Tampa has made the short list. Can anyone give me an idea of what an RN with 1 year acute experience would start at in a hospital setting? I'm crossing my fingers for TGH but have applied at others. I currently live in MI and make 23.75/hr plus 1.55 night shift differential. We are also union and have insurance through the hospital. I'm aware some nurses purchase their own insurance, but I'd really prefer to have it offered by the facility as I'm looking for a full time position. Since the cost of living is quite a bit more there than here, I was really hoping the pay wouldn't be any less than it is here... I've heard FL pays nurses diddly but maybe that's changing? I worked in a urology office and foleys were a daily thing. I think your patient had some calcification on the tip and it scraped at it was withdrawn. Your technique sounds fine and as long as you disconnected the syringe after pulling out saline. Then you pull back again. If you leave it attached the saline could flow back into the balloon. But if you did those steps, the blood could be from trauma r/t scraping of the urethral from sediment and calcifications.

Hello! I stumbled across this as I was looking for the reverse – I'm a lifelong Michigan resident looking to move to Arizona next year! Are you sent in living in the lower Peninsula of Michigan? All your cities are "below the bridge"- not sure where her family is. I am a resident of the upper peninsula which offers a smaller town for you with an excellent low cost of living. I currently work at OSF St Francis Hospital in Escanaba, MI but UP Health Systems in Marquette, MI is bigger. Up here is a great place to raise kids and get lots of land with your home for cheap!
