  1. I never thought I would work agency but was talked into it and have loved it ever since. Just remember you are a guest in the facility and you must be flexible. I good sense of humor is also a must. Call around to find out wich agencies have contracts with facilities that have L&D and if that unit ever uses agency personel. Go for it and good luck! Lisa
  2. started when I was 28 and am now 39. Graduated with ADN 1994 and BSN 1996.

I agree with the others. When "a stink" was going on in my building, I called a screaming halt to it all and had a "pow wow" or instant 5 minute meeting with all those involved as soon as we could. That is providing the floor was safe.......we always managed to do it. We all sat in a circle with chairs and no yelling was allowed.........then we spilled it and got it out in the open.......wow what an improvement.........and if this measure doesn't work.........you have to all go to the next level up.........Good luck and do not delay.......it will only get worse....
  4. Hey everyone. Check out bio-link.org. Learn about biotech. What a hot field to be in. I am a BSN nurse who is starting college again this fall. I take one course in fall and one in Spring and I am snatched up by a biotech firm before I am finished. M-F days, bennies....and 6 figures within four years (well close). Anyone can do it...you dont have to have a BSN. You can be a mechanic.........Any questions? I am very excited.......Plus I always loved lab.........but that's not what it is all about........it is a giant field balloons, stints, dialysis, disease cures, better lab tests, better disease treatments, better medical equipment ......check it out.........a very promising career for us. 5. well, that was well put. And are you angry. I see all of your points. I have worked with the Benz drivers and they do not have a clue what the workload is like on the floors. They do crunch numbers and money is everything. I worked side by side with these people and with corporate. I know what they do. You are right. Most nurses do get walked on. If you did a poll, you would find that most of them lived with an alcoholic as a child and/or doing so now. They are co-dependants. And they should take a stand! You nurses do not deserve it! This person is right. If you take a stand we can conquer the big cheeses! And if you work through your lunch break you are making yourself a worse nurse because you are not providing yourself with the normally needed stress relief. And you can't argue with me that nursing is not highly stressful............Now do something before your life passes you by and you end up with cancer or chronic illness related to stress. One of my nurses just DIED.....she worked hard......she kept saying she needed more stress relief.......and she go it!!! SMARTEN UP YOU NURSES AND TRY CARING FOR YOURSELF!!!
