@Yomaira218 I know exactly how you feel. When i first started the nursing program I was on my own, living on my own, had my own bills etc... it's difficult. I was able to work full time still with the help of my jobs flexibility but it was not easy at all. I struggled with my grades and it interfered with my studying time a lot. It's doable but difficult. You will be breathing, eating, dreaming, thinking 24/7 nursing. If you have to work full time then I suggest you get yourself a planner to keep organized and also know your priorities--nursing-- Are you doing night clinicals or day clinicals?

Hi all! sorry on late post.. i was busy with bio 51for the summer so it consumed all of my time. The tuition is the same as it already is for other kbcc classes. I really don't recommend taking other classes along with 17 & 18 because it can be a lot.. you really want all of your focus on fundamentals but there were some students last semester that did so. They managed idk how, props to them! I think i forgot to mention in previous post, for clinical its not mandatory but it will be helpful for you guys to get a nursing diagnosis book, rent it from amazon if you must. Although now they have a nursing central app that you can download while your in school (using kbcc wifi) and be able to use it outside of campus. It includes David Drug Guide, Nursing Diagnosis, David's lab & diagnostics, much other stuff too. But there is also some on amazon that are helpful. It'll help you how to come up with a nursing dx for your patient and that interventions can be done. For everything in nursing remember ADPIE - Assess - Diagnose - Plan - Implement - Evaluate also ABC - Air way, breathing & circulation. That will help you for some questions on the exams as well as clinical. For orientation you do not need to take your white scrubs, only the students that are volunteering will wear white.

Also, one VERY extremely VERY important tip, when you take your exams, DO NOT CHANGE YOUR ANSWERS! Always go with your gut. I personally bombed one of my exams because i doubted my answers and ended up changing them. Luckily I was able to get myself out of the failing mark and was able to do well on my other exams. Passing is a 76 on exams I believe and a 75 or 74.5 on the course itself. Also, I recommend having a small study group (of 2-3 to maintain focus and make sure you all have similar studying methods) or a study partner. I'll be glad to answer any other questions you have :)

You're welcome! I took the TEAS on Jan 11th & received my letter Jan 31st. NUR 17 was pretty easy, it's all dimensional analysis. However NUR 18 was very tough, it will consume about 95% of your life. Start the semster strong, don't slack off, do your readings, study your notes daily. I recommend getting the NCLEX-RN Saunders Comprehensive review book on amazon, it helped me understand some topics discussed during the semester & helped me getting used to NCLEX style questions. Also, you might be told to purchase the eBook for fundamentals, which is over $100.. don't do it, you can get away with renting the book on amazon. For clinicals you'll need of course all white uniform, the program will give you info about where you can purchase them during orientation. You'll need BP Cuff, penlight, stethoscope, gloves, clipboard, black pens (do not use color pens during clinical), you'll need bandage scissors for when you do wound care. Are you planning on becoming a night or day student? To give you a heads up, you'll be required to purchase ATI (which is about over 200 dollars i think) and you should do your CPR & start getting your physical done along with getting PPD that way you're not running around last minute.

Hi! I'm a second semester nursing student at kbcc. If you sustained good grades during prereqs and have a good GPA I'm sure you'll get in. Do you know what was the average score for TEAS? Last semester the lowest score that I know of that they took in was a 65. Wish you tons of luck! I know how stressful it is waiting to receive the letter.

Thank you so much for the info! Don't know if I should start looking into getting the books on the syllabus that is on kbcc's site or if to just wait it out until orientation. I just hate running around last minute getting everything lol

hey @michelle0128 yes i received my letter on Wednesday night and I got in! So congratulations to us! Now to run around and get all of medical & CPR stuff done. I was looking into CPR classes, some of them offer only CPR or only BLS.. so I am assuming we would have to get each separately? They seemed to have sent out our letters extremely late because the deadline was Jan 31st.. funny but when I called the department they told me I can submit my acceptance form along with Flus shot on Monday morning. So much to do, so little time!

UPDATE: I passed the TEAS exam with a 75.3%..my lowest score was science and my highest was English. So much A&P!! Anxiously waiting for an acceptance letter from kbcc.. ahh!! *fingers crossed* Hopefully I get in for Spring 2017!

@lalalovesz hi! a bit late on the thread but congratulations on being accepted to the program. Would you mind sharing what was your TEAS score and or gpa? I have a 3.61 so I'm a bit worried about getting it. I feel like I have to get an 85 or above on the TEAS to get into the program. Thanks!

Hello all, I am taking the new TEAS VI exam on the 11th.. I am a bit nervous but have taken some practice exams. I first took the teas V practice exam on ATI website.. i scored a 53% without studying.. then I purchased the practice exams for teas VI. My first time on practice B exam after 2 weeks of studying I got a 62% and I recently took it again (you can retake them but only once) and i got an 82% but I seem to have a bit of a photogenic memory so I remembered some questions and the correct answer (after I submitted the wrong answer) from the first time I took them. I have a 3.61 GPA. I hear that they have accepted students with a 75% score but I have also heard that they not accepted other students with that same score.. so it us all worried! I am hoping that I get the same score that I have been getting on my practice exams. Has anyone gotten into kbcc nursing program after taking the TEAS VI exam?
