  1. I believe the most important issue that unions resolve is nurse-patient ratios. That's why unions are able to organize and get voted in by nurses. It's all about patient safety. I would like to hear from the nurses who are never short staffed and feel that their patients and nursing licenses are never in jeopardy because of short staffing. Do these hospitals exist??? Unions have nurse committees for the purpose of bargaining and negotiating, so that their members voices and needs are at the forefront. If union dues are the issue, just think about the cost of one mistake...it could cost your license and your career So where are the hospitals that staff their floors appropriately on a regular basis because I would like to apply for a job at these hospitals. Let's get real, hospitals are not going to provide safe staffing unless forced to do so.
  2. Somehow, I don't think unnecessary tasks will increase the profit margin but improving nurse patient ratios will increase patient safety. Never say that you will never be a patient!
  3. What hospitals don't realize is that this is what happens when there is constant short staffing. Hospitals don't want the unions telling them how to staff their floors but this is the next best thing to mandatory nurse-patient ratios. Please remember nurses rally in Washington, D.C. on May 12, 2016 for national mandatory nurse-patient ratios. Please spread the word and try to attend. #nursesunite #NursesTakeDC
  4. Yes, there are people who have filed complaints against BON. You can file a complaint against anyone/ entity. You must research the law and make sure that your complaint is valid. Any entity can be sued but be aware, any entity can file a counter claim against you, for example, that your claim is frivolous and demand damages against you. Please be clear, I am not giving legal advice but am simply expressing my opinion. If you would elaborate on the basis of your complaint, you may get more responses. You can sue someone for having blue hair,...or for being too tall...or for anything but what would your damages be?
  5. Nurses please mark your calendars to make a change. Nurses are planning to rally Washington, D.C. on May 12, 2016 for national safe nurse to patient ratios. I urge all nurses and interested members of the public and anyone who wants to make hospitals safer to make an attempt to attend this rally. We must stand united and have our voices heard. No one is immune from the dangers of short staffing in hospitals. Please spread the word. #nursesunite #nursestakedc
