Duke MSN 2018
Just got an email that decisions were posted in Applicant Self Service. Signed in and my acceptance letter was there :))

Duke MSN 2018
Thank you! I was accepted into another program as well, but am waiting until i hear from Duke to make my final decision. The timeline for the program is a factor to consider, so I'm anxious to know all of these details. CONGRATULATIONS on your acceptance!! Which cohort are you doing?

Duke MSN 2018
I am so curious about whether or not they have changed the format of the program (it looks like it would now be 6 credits/semester and would take 3 years to complete instead of 2). I want to call and ask about that, but have been waiting until I receive a decision, first. Don't want to waste anyone's time asking questions about the matriculation plan if it ends up that it doesn't pertain to me, anyway. Has anyone received any more information on that topic??

Duke MSN 2018
I haven't received any correspondence yet. I interviewed on May 7th and was advised that they would send decisions in about 2-3 weeks. I haven't been refreshing my email non-stop- not at all

Duke MSN 2018
I just saw that they changed all of the curriculum links on their website, too. Does anyone have any info/insight to the PMHNP matriculation plan? I had my interview today, so the next 2-3 weeks are going to be torture now waiting for an answer. I do want to find out more about these changes though.

Recruiting and retention tips for Private Duty?
Thank you for all of the feedback! Our compensation is very competitive for LPNs in the area (at least $3/hr more than the nursing homes and other agencies) and about on par for RNs (a little higher than average if they're out in the more rural areas). We are a small office and truly value the culture, support and consistency that we are building, so I feel good about our retention related to those factors, but it is the recruitment that is proving to be more of an obstacle right now. We don't make flashy job postings advertising things that we cannot deliver on, but still want a successful recruiting program that attracts quality nurses. So, getting nurses in the door is our biggest focus right now

Recruiting and retention tips for Private Duty?
I would love to hear any tips you may have for recruitment and retention of nurses. I'm a Clinical Director for a Home Care agency, so I would love to hear from other leaders in the private duty sector, but would welcome any experiences across the board that we may be able to apply to our practice. Thanks!!

How's Greenville, NC?
Not sure if you have moved here already, but will answer anyway :) We moved here from NY 3.5 years ago. I'm glad we left NY, but I would not recommend Greenville to anyone. I have 2 in school and a toddler. We love the elementary school that we're in, but it is far away from everything. We've loved the preschool that both of the older ones were in. But, outside of that, there is NOTHING to do with kids. Nothing. We have to go to Raleigh (almost a 2 hour drive from where we are) for any activities. The health system here- Vidant- is terrible. They have major issues with micromanagement and unskilled leadership. So, there is a huge amount of turnover. Many units have been closed down because they cannot staff them. Most of the nurses are new, from ECU, and use the opportunity to gain experience there and then move on. With 4 years experience, they were paying $48k/yr. Benefits are extremely expensive and coverage is very limited. I honestly worried about my license working there, and I have never felt that way before. There are many awesome places in NC. I would look into other places. Raleigh and Charlotte (if you like cities), Asheville, Wilmington, etc. Good luck with your decision!

Frustrated by NCBON monopolizing education
Has anyone else noticed that North Carolina has made it nearly impossible to attend a distance learning program or obtain any further degrees outside of NC? Schools not located in NC and part of the UNC system are now not recognized or allowed to accept NC nurses. Since enrollment is down for UNC nursing programs statewide, they have now handcuffed us to use only programs located within the state. North Carolina and California are the only resulted states that do this. In case you can't tell by my tone, i find it very frustrating, but even more so, extremely unethical.
