Ok before feeling the need to tell me about my grammer & English. Enlgish is not my first language I'm1 taking classes & working on this. I KNOW my English sucks lol. Thank you =). I am a PCT & about to start working in ED. The college I went to is one of the best in my state for many medical careers. My story is I started as a MA & worked 6 years with a plastic surgeon doing Pre-post op skills. Four as a cna 1, home health aide memory care, special needs. And did 5 months of the PCT class & 3 months clinics in ED, Icu, Pcu, and a rehabilitation unit. The nurses were kind, very helpful & always grateful when we took suctioning, catheters or other skills off their back which allowed them to relax more if the shift was busy. However, I won't lie ED was where myself & other students started seeing a big difference the way some nurses acted. One RN chewed out one student while 4 were including myself standing behind her making allegations that the student didn't report a high glucose level when indeed did to another RN in the very same pod WHO DIDN'T report it to her.. myself & that student split 12 pt's in that pod & couldn't believe how she never even apologized lol. She was just not a nice person? We also had a charge nurse almost blow a lid when he heard a partial converaation when one of the students told a pt who had a trach she'd be right back to suction her once she found our instructor. He walked up to her in front of ot's & again other Rn's & said "you are NOT allowed odo that it's not in your scope". Turns out this Rn works with our Instructor in this ED & our instructor ended up oulling him aside & said YES they are as long as Im observing. Why is is such a big deal to bot just say sorry for some? Why do I see so many NOT All but some tell the newbies to stop whining (which I'm not) or get used to it? I think what I learned in clinics is if they are like that and almost looking for a reason to be rude to just stay away as much as possible and report & stay away which is ridiculous imo. I try to be a nice person & understand not all people cope with stress the same. Other team members shouldn't have to deal with that behavior. So my purpose for this post is HOW TO HANDLE IT professionally, knowing now I maybe working with some Rn's who act this way? Or not to drop my jaw when I hear an Rn say bye, bye under her breathe to a pt who is in the hallway crying because they have so much pain and they can't get anything but tylenol until Dr says so. Should I just turn off all emotions basically?

There will ALWAYS be that 1 person who treats others the way they do..being. I wonder if those very people who say stop whining extra realize everyone is dofferent, everyone copes with things differently, not everyone keeps quite about their legs being blow off. I've been in the Military life for over 25 years and that is not aways the case. I've seen pt's pass out just the aite of blood whike others can stand in it . Stick with all the positive, & kind advise in here and know that there are nurses who don't feel the same way about how you are feeling vs those whom have their own ways.

Let it go. If this nurse thought disiplining you was ok in front of other ataff members imo I think that in her head it was ok & you saying anything could backfire? But, again saying it right and sticking up for yourself matters too. Tough one. I'd let it go.

In this State compared to othwrs I don't understand why it has such a wider range of skills becauae we can't do any of things back home in Ca unless a nurse. Here we do suctioning, wound care, g-tube feeding, catheters, blood draws and dc We also go on the BON. It makes no sense why each State is so different?

Perhaps you are right. But when I hear someone say depressed that itself can become a medical issue. People don't always think like they normally would, and imo it's a sensitive post. Bullying doesn't have to be hands on assult or battery. It can be people.mocking, or gossiping about, possibly even insensitive. .myself about 6 of us quit becauae of the way we were treated and how there was so much gossip it became so uncomfortable none of us evend dared say anything for fear to get attacked with disrespectful responses. Sorry for being defensive. Maybe I have a difference opinion from my own experience what it is? But Im here to learn and I will ADMIT I CAN be sensitive and now starting in ED in one week I agree with learning how to not take certain things not so it personal regarding criticism as long as it's said in an appropriate way? But laughing at making jokes I don't get that part?

I think you are awesome at least you can spell lol..I still struggle with the American language and grammer but everyone has their weak areas =). What I find intwreating in you ia that you haven't given up! Have you tried to actually separate completely and take some time to walk on the beach, down a dirt road and try focusing a few times a day on things? Simple things like looking at the trees swaying back n forth, feeling the wind on your face and taking in the fresh air..

The OP came here simply stating she was "depressed" ok. It has gona as far as thicker skin, google it, I've lost track. God forbid some of you nurses treat your pt's like this? That is why I said I'd have to wonder what mental condition you would be in if acting out like this to others. SOME might think it's ok to play, give hard tuff it UP advice.. this isn't boot camp people! If she seems sensitive why nit be gentle and treat her with respect and give professional advise you don't need to be a Nurse Rachette for Petes sake.. Btw, I'm the one that was insulted multiple times even after I made it VERY clear English is not my first language. I won't engage to those who find this entertianing. It's mean.

Why is it you go through an interview and they have you shadow, as if you can even provide extra time, intoduct you to other employees infact making me feel extremely at ease and feeling confident to get no call back? I don't understand this strategy lol? ErR interview in 14 hra off to bed. Advise?

Lol. =) I chose to use a different description for the word bullying & will be replacing it as of now.to indifferent. I think it actually presents it's self in a much more dashing light.

Lol, who said they were? My siggestion to you is to calm down and go back to the OP and learn how to speak like a professional vs a teenage child.

Unprofessional nurses are everywhere & isn't it such a pattern that their always the same ones who defend it or themselves. I can't imagine going through life walking around thinking I'm just so much better to be putting others down in what many claim they see nothing wrong when someone is insulting someones puntutation, spelling. Calling people trolls. Very, high school. These very types are the "drama" in work settings. Nothing you say is right because their always right no mater what lol. It's sad.
