Hi All, First of all Happy Holidays and may this coming year brings happiness and joy, success for everyone. Ok my concern is i am working in a SNF and i am really concerned about the survey process. its going to be any day in the next couple of weeks so thats why i am getting so nervous. my question is when we give medicine thru G-tube, how do you measure the amount of water to give via G-tube? like a physician order says " flush with 30ml water before and after giving med and 125 ml every 8 hrs". so if i have to give 4 or 6 meds in the morning. i know i have to crush all meds in separate med cup (30ml) individually. how much water should i mix with each med cup? How long should i wait before pouring second medicine? how much water shud i pour after each med to flush that medicine in between?

New & Ready To Move On To Bigger & Better
Hi, i agree with both of you. the circumstances i have seen are really bad in nursing...i hate tooo. specially the staff, management.....politics....oh god. Patients are okay....may be i havent worked that much since i got my lic this year in march. even i am thinking to go for a better field as am i also working in computers....i think thats better for me. i totally agree with NEWrad07 ..."I hate that I cannot sleep the night before I have to work because I dread going to work the next day. I hate smelling like !@#$ when I go home. "

Hello friends, i am really worried what i did. Actually i am new in here in usa as a nurse...i recently got my nclex-rn exam and now i am working in SNF. my concern is ..ok when i last day worked there, one of my resident's son wants her mother to get discharge and take her home tomorrow. i said ok i have to take orders from the MD. then i call MD and he said its not ok its against medical advice and doc said we can send her after two days. then i talked to the son on the phone and he said ok i can wait till two days, i dont want to go against medical advice...earlier he was so mad and yelling at me because his mother doesnt like the environment and food etc etc. what my concern is i did not document discharge orders on doc's orders sheet and what i did was just noted on the calendar and documented on nurses notes and endorsed to the next shift. was i supposed to document in the doc's orders sheet and have made the T.O order and also is the management gonna take action against me for this thing????????? i am really worried. i totally forgot. plz advice me if i can do something? Thanks in advance.
