@All the help, all certifications required on castle branch must be completed prior to first day of class. Even though there is a grace period which allows you to complete it up until the start of clinical, due the the amount of certifications you will be required to do the first 5 weeks of clinical meeting at city tech, it will be very backed up if you wait. Have the castle branch ones done by the time school starts so you won't fall behind.

First semester is supposed to be easy, but if you going into it with that mind set you will be in deep water. Improve your studying technique as you attend each class and always ask questions. One of your greatest resource is your classmates. They come from all walks of like and some even have medical backgrounds. Make friends. As for the first day of clinicals, if your uniform came in time you can wear it to clinical. If it did not arrive on time, the professors allow a grace period up to around three weeks for you to have your full uniform. This includes the scrubs, stethoscope, and white nursing shoes. Your first five weeks will be spent at city tech in their simulation labs so report to the school. Continue to post questions and I will try to get to them all.

Hey prospective nursing students, I was accepted for the Spring 2016 entering class and just finished my first semester. If anyone needs answers to what needs to be done prior to school starting, leave your questions here and I will try to answer as many of them as I can. @Jyrne, for the HIPPA, OSHA, Infection Control, and Child Abuse Mandatory Reporting sections of your certifiedprofile account you must create an account on the MEDCOM website provided to you in your acceptance letter and watch the videos with the corresponding titles to the requirement on certified profile. Please keep in mind that many of the required videos have multiple parts and you must watch all required parts. Once a video is done, there are roughly 10 to 20 questions that will be given as a quiz on the video material. If you pass the quiz, you will be able to print a certificate with your name on it proving that you passed. Those certificates must be uploaded to certifiedprofile as part of the clearance. Other medcom videos will be required followed by more quizzes, however, specifically which videos are required will be discussed during your first five weeks of skills training at NYCCT. If anyone has any more questions please don't hesitate to post. P.S. If you're smart, one of the questions will be which hospitals are good for first semester students

Okay, I'm sure now. For all those accepted into the program, please go to the medcom site as directed in the flyer in our acceptance letters. Look up all the videos regarding HIPAA, OSHA, CHILD ABUSE REPORTING, and INFECTION CONTROL. Once you've completed those videos and tests on the medcom site, you can print the certificates and sign it then upload it to the certifiedprofile website! Please do so asap.

I suspect that we can do the HIPAA and OSHA stuff. It looks to be available as courses at the MEDCOM website we are required to sign up for. We should take a look into that. That could be how we fulfill the requirements for certifiedprofile.

Does anyone's certifiedprofile have their background check information? It turns out the code given to us by the school to place an order on certifiedprofile was only for the drug testing.. Anyone know if the background check was supposed to be included?

I tried registering today and I was able to lock in my classes! You should all give it a try. Although degreeworks and enrollment verification has not changed out majors to NU or NUD or NUR, we can still register as along as we have departmental permission which the office is setting up on the cunyfirst accounts of the accepted students. So try to lock in the classes starting today until orientation. It should allow you to register within this week. To clarify, you DO NOT contact the nursing department to get permission, this is being done automatically. If you contact them they will just get annoyed. So be patient and keep trying to lock in the classes every day. For those of you whom have locked in classes, can you post which day and hospital you will be at? Maybe some of us will be at the same clinical site!

It was pretty easy. Has anyone's major been changed to nursing yet or has anyone been able to register for classes yet?

Just completed my BLS Healthcare Provider course today which includes CPR and AED certification. Uploaded the card certification to Certifiedprofile. Almost done with all the documents!

The online certification is only part 1 of the entire certification. Even if you do part 1 online, you still have to go in person to do part 2 at an offering location. Doing only the online one won't be accepted as completed the CPR and AED training. I'm going to the class on Saturday Jan 9.

Only BLS for healthcare provider, the other ones are super expensive and time consuming. All that is required is CPR and AED which is included in BLS healthcare provider course.

I rushed it, we don't do anything for the hippA stuff til orientation, and you need to choose the BLS for healthcare provider course.

Not all labcorp labs do the drug test so you have to find a location that does it. The address mentioned above is one that does do it.

The certifiedprofile has a to do section which has the drug test part, you have to wait for that part to change and provide you with a file to download and print. That file will have your info on it which u bring to a labcorp facility to do the urine test. The lab then inputs the information from the paper you printed. That's how to results of the test will be automatically uploaded to your certified profile account. So you have to wait for the file from the site. The location of the lab that i chose was right by the school 100 Livingston Street 4th floor.

The drug test results will then be automatically uploaded to the certified profile site.
