  1. I plan on transit for almost everything unless I land in home care.
  2. That's amazing. I can't find a deal for nic and NOC though Thank you so much. I'm so excited to start!
  3. Im 32 with a psych degree entering a fast BN program in 2 months from now. No way are we too old! Work hard, and get it done!
  4. Hello, NIC and NOC books. Are they necessary? Could I e-book these ones?
  5. Hospital parking is ridiculously expensive. I will probably transit to most places
  6. jwillis1 - I'm not sure if I will need more money these few semesters, but I'm curious about the loan for terms 5 and 6 when I've heard things get intense, and I may not be able to work part time. Is it a bank loan?
  7. Choose in the northwest or anywhere along the NW or SW ctrain lines. I will have to transit from the SW and it'll take about an hour, but it's one bus and one train. It's a good time, rental prices are coming down!
  8. Congrats red! I sent mine the same day via online banking, and it took 2 or 3 days for it to process. It took a whole month to get my registration stuff in the mail.
  9. Im nervous too. So much to learn in such a short time! But I'm excited to advance my career.
  10. Do a search on the nursing site and check out the student handbook. It will guide you. The registration package will come in the mail soon! Congrats! How excited are you?!
  11. Hooray and congratulations to you!!
  12. If your calculations are correct, consider calling and asking about the status of your application. I think the 3.6ers are getting in, so in theory, you should also have an offer :) I hope it works out!
  13. When I did A and P through Athabasca, they counted it as 2 half courses, since it was 6 credits. To me, your logic is sound but I would call and ask.
  14. I'm SURE that checkmark is on its way for you both!!
  15. I forget, are you in or waiting for them to give you the green check? I'm in, but nervous. And excited. And terrified. I was last in a classroom in 2004.
  16. I got my green checkmark on Monday Sept 12, so it would make sense that more check marks are released today! Hooray for those who get in, and hang in there for those who haven't heard yet! Monde - I had my loans request approved about 24 hours after I submitted them. I was super impressed! Check back every day. Also, if you didn't before your first undergrad, if you did high school in Alberta, apply for the Rutherford Scholarship. I did, thinking I wouldn't get anything, and was awarded $1200. Every penny helps! I got lucky - they accepted my work place's N95 testing, so that was already out of the way. I go for titres for Hep B tomorrow and then see a doctor on campus for Mantoux on the 7th of November. I'm hoping they release the book list (at Open House they said November or December) soon so that I can start looking at the books. Is it January yet?
  17. Oh good I can stop haunting my mailbox! Saw my doc for my blood work today. N95 testing today and police check next week! So much to get done :)
  18. Congrats on getting in! It's nice to "meet" some of the other program students! I have applied for and been accepted for loans. If you're in alberta, google Alberta Student Loans, and apply through the website. I was ,only able to apply for the first semester, I think. I can't tell you how to apply if you're in another province or country. On the U of C portal where you see your checkmarks, you can enroll in classes. The open enrollment button is under the announcements, but above the status, on the right. I hope that makes sense. It's nursing 285, 287, 288, 289. Tuition can be automatically received from the loan people, or it'll be deposited into your bank account. You need to do the vaccine worksheet, get on it now since there may be things that you need to have done. Police check, N95 mask fitting. I have a doctor appt at the school for a Mantoux test in November when I'm there for another thing. All of the info is under current students, I think, on the U of C page. I bet it'll all be in the information package when it arrives, but it is taking its time to get here.
  19. My boss sent me the paperwork they fill out when we do our N95 fit test. I'll submit it and see if it's adequate. Thanks!
  20. I'm not the OP but I'm going to remember this for myself.
  21. I guess the background check from when I started my job 8 years ago is out of date! I wonder if my shoes I wear to work now will do. When I took my HCA I had to wear white shoes but I have nice New Balance ones. I'm due for N95 fitting at work but we keep internal records, and I will not receive a card so I should probably book an appointment. Where are you going? How much? My CPR was just done through work in April through Heart and Stroke so that's good. Just need to print confirmation. Where did you find which vaccines we need? I'm 95% sure I'm up to date except for seasonal flu which will come out next month. I'm so excited for classes to start. Is it January yet?
  22. For housing, stick close to the C-train line if you're going to use transit. The school is in the NW. I live in the south, but close to Southland station so I can just hop on a train and hang out until it gets to the school. If you go to the NE or pretty far west, you'll have to trade trains downtown. RedCoat, where are you coming from? Also, I found this: https://nursing.ucalgary.ca/files/nu/bn-student-handbook-f16-w17-final.may-12-16.pdf I'm waiting somewhat impatiently for my registration package. The RN I work with who was in school recently said to wait before buying textbooks, she foudn that sometimes the edition would change from one semester to another. I wonder if the faculty knows what, if any, changes might be made.
  23. Yay! Is anyone else going to the open house on Saturday?
