  1. Another thing I want to add is that the NP workforce hit a record high of 290K. If this doesn't cause any concerns, then I dont know what will. Oversaturation is a real concern and I think even after the pandemic, you will see the impact it will have on the future outlook.
  2. Hey guys the facebook link for this cohort is made. Please join if you are attending. https://www.facebook.com/groups/183947156229833/
  3. Ignore my previous comment. User ID and PWs are set up on day of orientation.
  4. Hi! I also received that email from Dr. McGinty about castlebranch and registration for the fall. I was under the impression thatwe create the user ID and passwords. The acceptance letter had a student ID number.
  5. Nice. I'm from NY. Where are you coming from? Regis does have dorms for graduate housing but its kinda super expensive. I'm thinking off-campus is probably the way to go. What are your thoughts?
  6. I also been accepted. I need to figure out the housing situation too. Im out of state. Are you from out of state as well?
  7. That sounds good. Keep me updated.
  8. Ikr. I wish someone could tell us more hoe Simmons waitlist works. The only thing I can think was to call Brian the director and ask him but idk how that may look lol. Maybe one of us can be the brave one and call directly and ask. I do want to mention that based on the previous forums and threads some people do give up their seat so we might have a chance. I wish they let me know the latest by April because I have to put a deposit down by May for another school.
  9. I hope we got are able to get in Simmons from the waitlist. I got accepted at Regis college. I also got accepted to a ABSN program in another state. I'm hoping we can here something from Simmons. It makes sense that we might hear back late march/early april because I'm sure folks will need to send in the tuition deposit by April.
  10. Does anyone know what the cost of the program is for out of state students?
  11. I'm in the same boat. I've been waitlisted for the 2020 and also wondering what are my chances of being accepted from the waitlist. Did you apply to any other schools?
  12. I heard we should hear back sometimes in March, the previous cohorts also did too. All the schools I applied to gave me decisions and this is the only school I'm waiting to here back from. It's already February but I wish they would have let us know sooner.
  13. Same. I submitted my application early like September or even earlier and I didn't receive the email that Simmons processed my application till 1/11/20. I'm still waiting to hear back and very anxious.
  14. Thank you so much. This definitely helps. Hoping I get in from the waitlist.
  15. For those of you that were accepted, can you please tell us how much is the tuition deposit to hold your seat and also when is the deadline you have to pay it?
  16. Thank you so much! Congratulations!!! I'm hoping I'm as lucky as you. This is my number 1 choice. Are you going to definitely go to Simmons?
  17. Congratulations. I'm suprised they are sending themby email. Usually they send decisions by mail. I'm still hoping to hear back.
  18. For what program? Direct entry or the online program?
  19. Yes I got that email too.
  20. I was also waitlisted.
  21. I'm still waiting on a decision and I just want to know. I also have all my prereqs completed. @Nurseanthro since your missing chemistry and micro, both hard science courses, this probably didn't help your cause. They give priority to those who have all prereqs completed. Apply to other schools if you can.
  22. Interesting points. I have also seen this topic come up a few times. I think the job market will depend on numerous factors, and espeically where one lives. It seems like everyone and their mother is going back to get there NP certification. On top of that, we have these online programs that are more interested in making $$$ and will let anyone with a pulse become a NP. It's sad where the profession is heading, just goes to show you how greedy these universities can be. No school can give you a edge, only you can give yourself an advantage and standout from the rest. Also direct entry programs, especially direct entry NP programs are not meant to be cost effective. There is no such thing as a cheap or affordable direct entry NP program. Notice how almost all direct entry programs are at private univeristies, I don't see alot or ANY state colleges offering these types of degrees. This is graduate school and so it doesn't matter what your degree is, graduate tuition always charge a arm and a leg, plus a kidney. Take everything you read with a grain of salt. Ask yourself one thing, if the field was as saturated and bad, how come it's rated as one of the best health jobs in the country? I see soo many best career list that come out, and almost on all articles, NP ranks at least in the top 5 category of best healthcare jobs. Not to mention, NP profession is expected to grow 31% if you want the most cheapest option, then do a accelerated BSN program at a state school in your home state so you qualify for that low instate tuition. Then pursue the cheapest NP program you can find.
  23. Interesting. I guess there are, but most of the programs I looked at require at least some 1 year experience as RN for the acute care track. Maybe these schools must offer great critical care ICU clincials if they are expecting new grads to jump in this high acuity area.
  24. Honestly, I'm keeping my options open. I definitely wanted to do FNP because it is versatile. I don't mind working in the fact paced ER setting, but I can also see myself doing outpatient setting as well. I applied to Regis College and that program you can pick your speciality of FNP, Psych, Women's Health or Adult Geriatric NP track.
