Bullying in nursing, common or not?
Bullying is very common in the nursing field, nurse to nurse, clients/family to nurse, physicians to nurse, that being said, bullying exists in every workplace/field, not just in nursing, there is no way to avoid it, you need to be assertive and stand up for yourself, find a mentor or a colleague that you can discuss your concerns to, stand up for those who are being bullied.

Can a manager force you to stay for the next shift if relief does not arrive?
The maximum number of hours most employees can be required to work in a day is eight hours or the number of hours in an established regular workday, if it is longer than eight hours. The only way the daily maximum can be exceeded is by an electronic or written agreement between the employee and employer. This is from the Ministry of Labour, therefore you need to look at the agreements you ve signed or any union handbooks, 24 hr straight is a no no at my place, whether you choose to accept the shift or not.

Staff speak their own langauge at Work
I find this is a concern since the staff at my workplace speak in their own languages even during work hours, from nursing managers, to reg staff, to PSWs. I dont care if they chat in a different language during their breaks but this is happening during work hours.

IV and phlebotomy course practice on each other?
Thank you everyone for all your replies. I'm in Canada and that school is located in the GTA, I received the information directly from the school and I was really surprised to heard that. Should I proceed taking the course or cancel it? Any suggestions?

IV and phlebotomy course practice on each other?
I'm planning to take a IV and phlebotomy course and apparently I was told that students must practice IV initiation and venipuncture on each other? I thought we only have practice on a dummy. I was just wondering if this is the standard for taking IV and phlebotomy courses.
