Hello everyone, I plan to get through at least two chapters before Wednesday that was suggested in the packet. The first chapters I will attempt to conquer is Chapter 6: Health and Wellness and Chapter 28: Infection Prevention and Control. @YaquelynR was in both of my anatomy classes and she was accepted as well as myself. So I will be meeting with her after the orientation. If anyone else is interested in studying with us that does the reading for chapter(s) 6/28 is welcome to meet with us. Just a little FYI: This is my first nursing study session with others and it may not be the ideal or perfect study group but I will have my notes we can ask each other questions, etc discuss concepts and try to get a hang out this and I believe it is great practice/learning opportunity for whom ever decides to attend besides Jackie & I. Just checked previous post from other semesters and students received their calls on different days, so the rest of the accepted student should expect a call tomorrow.

My last name begins with a T, what about you? @Steffie_zed? I believe they are done making calls for the day, and will resume mañana, I would hope that they are not done yet.

OMG CONGRATULATIONSSSS EVERYONE!!!!! I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU ALL. YOU GUYS HAVE ME OVER HERE BITTING MY FINGER NAILS LOL. @mbc002 and @hope16 May you guys tell me what letter your last name begins with. I heard they called in alphabetic order.

Yeah I also did that too a few days ago, but I looked at old post on here from a previous discussion board and a student said it shows 25 students but when they spoke to an operator from the nursing department he/she said there are 45 students per section (2 for day) and (1 for evening). And sometimes I do see that when applying for classes it would say 25 seats, and 30 enrolled for example. So hopefully that is the case so our chances will be higher. I was not feeling the 1199 union members situation, like if they are reserving seats for them they should add extra seats not take seats away from BMCC students :-( whether they will enroll during the day or evening, its not really "fair".

I am confident about my pre-req and overall GPA but slightly doubtful about my HESI score (86 overall), if anything that will be my downfall. I believe they look mainly @ the pre-req GPA but also consider the overall as well. I am checking my phone nonstop as well. I have to travel underground to get back home and I don't even want to do that, lol afraid about not having service and them not leaving a voicemail. :-( You applied for the Evening program right @chrissy_bmcc?

I think GPA is important but does not exactly have to be a 4.0. On the nursing program paper I received from the nursing department after I took the HESI, explaining the program more in depth it said the lowest GPA for 2014-2015 was a 3.5. So if you have a 3.8 I would just try to wait for a phone call and remain hopeful. As that is the only thing any of us can do at this point and of course have other options which is always good to have. Have faith, I know its nerve racking I am just sitting by the phone. Every time it rings and its not a 212 number I get angry lol. It is important for everyone to remember there is more than 1 option, and not to be discouraged. I hope the best for you @Hope16 I also called the nursing department today, they said students should expect a phone call either this week or next week and they will contact everyone whether they are accepted or not. [3.84 is a great GPA btw] How did you do on the HESI?

Unfortunately, many students like myself do not want to have the burden of loans once we graduate. There are other schools like SUNY, that intended Nursing students may want to look into because it is about 2,000 dollars higher than CUNY but it may be a better option. I am not too sure about the quality SUNY nursing programs compared to CUNY though, I just know it is much cheaper than private school. May you please expand on why your experience at BMCC is so horrible as you briefly mentioned? Thank you.

I agree, the HESI study book is not enough for A&P. But if you are applying for BMCC, I do not believe they will be giving the HESI again. I am not too sure if they will be substituting the HESI with another entrance exam like the TEAS but when I went to the nursing department the advisor said there is no more HESI. You should double check and get as much information as you can if you are applying for the nursing program at BMCC for Fall 2016!

Those are excellent scores. I am sure you will get in with those grades. I didn't so hot in the English section, I only got an 82. I am hopeful because my GPA is good. Good luck with English 101, I am sure you will do well.

Congratulations! How did you do? I went to visit the nursing department today. They said more people passed the HESI than they have seats. I am not sure what weighs more, GPA or HESI score.

The only schools I looked into besides BMCC was York and Farmingdale. My ideal plan was to go to York and take the entrance exam in May because I've been taking classes to fill their requirements. I am not interested in private schools. @Nicole_FutureRN

Hello Everyone, So I successfully passed the HESI, December 3, 2015. I would like to begin communication with other students who applied for BMCC Nursing program and successfully passed the HESI. The nursing department told me students should expect calls after New Years. My HESI score breakdown- Math 90% A&P 88% Reading Comprehension 82% Cumulative average= 86% Math 104+A&P1+English 101+Psychology100= 3.94 GPA [ Consisting of 3 A's & 1A-] I hope my HESI cumulative score along with my GPA is good enough for me to be accepted into the Nursing Program Spring 2016 Cohort [i applied for the day program]
