  1. you already have informal nursing experience=having kids. now off to your formal experience. you'd make a great nurse and will be valued by any employer.
  2. My dad got the flu shot one year. (he never got one until his company recommended it because it was a bad flu season) So he didnt get sick for the whole winter, but come early March, he is stricken with the worse flu he ever had. Could it be that he was vaccinated for a certain type of flu strain, which he became immune to? Then when a new and stronger strain developed later along the year, he got it? If that was the case, he would have been better off just getting the weaker strain of the flu, earlier that year.
  3. Congrats. Im starting out as a cna also. Please keep us up to date!
  4. now, will you place the hospital that fired you on your resume? just wondering how it will look. anyway, you'll do fine. no one died.
  5. but you manage well without it, right? Does anyone have tips to help avoid the flu(other than constant washing of the hands?)
  6. thanks for the advice all, but are there ANY medical professionals here who don't believe in taking the flu shot?
  7. i'm going to be volunteering at a hospital soon and was wondering if i needed a flu shot. i know lots of people who had flu shots who got sick after it or even months after it with a different and sometimes worse strain than the original flu they were vaccinated with. how many of you actually think the flu shot works and take it every year?
  8. Why did you become a CNA first and what was the toughest part of being a CNA? Also if you were looking for experience, what volunteer opportunities can I take advantage of in a hospital if I cannot get my CNA certificate yet.
  9. What is BON? And I tried calling the school. No answer.
  10. I was 3 weeks into my CNA program and the state shut my school down. They cited financial reasons but I don't know the real story. How do I get my money back. Ive already fillled out the complaint form. And does anyone know any CNA schools in Manhattan or Brooklyn that are cheap and maybe consider that i finished part of my CNA program?
