  1. I agree that it varies. Some people will say nursing school is/was extremely difficult and others will find it to be a "breeze" (lack of a better word). I just finished my first semester and I have to tell you it's way different than any science or pre reqs that I have taken. The volume of information seems almost impossible to keep up with so time management is very important. In my program anything below an 80 is considered failing and 94 is an A- , while a 95-100 is an A. So getting an A is very difficult , in my opinion. The cumulative final was worth 30% of our final grade so for some it was a make or break moment. But so far I'm hanging on to my A lol. So far so good
  2. We just finished up finals so cudnt really answer questions but majority of the class made the grade .. It was hard but doable.. I suggest recording lectures if they let you , and study the power points , and do practice questions
  3. Hey @toyafuturern so far the program is good. We're almost finished with this semester. It wasn't easy but we're making it lol. Anything u wanna know u can email me at [email protected]
  4. So far it's really good. Everyone is very nice (so far lol) and they really care and try to help as much as they can. Even the upperclassmen give you advice.
  5. Did u take the Kaplan exam yet ? If not I suggest you get the book Kaplan Math for nurses for basic math such as fractions and decimals as well as dosage calculation, and try to brush up on your physiology. I think you're considered once you have 70 . Good luck !
  6. @valdy The link didn't work for me either ! But I typed in the ISBN number for the ebooks and found them on Amazon as well.
  7. I bought all the books on Amazon, I had to type in the ISBN number for some of them to make sure I had the right edition. But it was pretty easy to find them. Which one are you having trouble finding?
  8. I thought so too . I guess we just read that chapters that go along with the first power point
  9. I'm honestly trying to figure that out as well. I looked through all the documents that were put on Moodle but I'm still confused
  10. I finished my last pre req Micro. Got an A- and I agree it was a frustrating class.
  11. Actually I didn't receive any scholarships. And yeah it's surprising because there were at least 20-25 ppl in my class when I went for registration, I guess there are still a lot of people who don't know about this site.
  12. Thank you ! And for Cochran the gpa needed I think is 3.0.. Mine was about 3.3 and my Kaplan score was 77. I think once you get above 70 you should be ok. I also got accepted to Monte and my Kaplan score for them was a 75 and if I'm not mistaken the gpa requirement is 2.7 but the test outweighs the gpa (you can have a 4.0 gpa and get a low score on the exam and you won't be considered)
  13. Anyone commuting from the nyc area ?
  14. Yes ! Good luck to all of us. Maybe you can give some pointers on Med surg once you get started !
  15. Sorry I was saying for the reading and writing I pretty much just winged it. I would suggest reading the questions before you read the passages. Most of the questions are specific. Asking you to look at a particular word or line in the passage.
  16. Well for the math I used : Kaplan Math for Nurses Science: Baron's Anatomy and Physiology Review book as well as videos from Khan Academy And the
  17. Nope ! Lol I'm trying to scrap everything together. And we have registration on the 15th. Seems like there isn't enough time to do all that is required
  18. I'm nervous as well ! Lol did you get ur BCLS (cpr) ?
  19. First let me wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I was accepted into the Cochran School of Nursing for Jan 2016 (day program). I just wanted to know if there was anyone else out there who will also be starting this spring. I haven't seen any threads regarding this. I am very excited to start but also nervous. I have to do so much running around in such a small amount of time to get all my paperwork finished.
  20. Hey are you going in the day or evening program for Cochran ? Cause I can't seem to find anyone else who is going for Jan 2016 @hottjboogie
  21. Night but I was trying to see if there was space in the Day program since I'll be traveling from queens
  22. Congrats !! I also got accepted for Jan 2016. I was honestly waiting for someone to make a thread for this lol.
  23. I believe that those who were accepted get notified by email first and then receive an acceptance packet in the mail. Don't give up guys ! Even if you were not accepted this semester try again. Trust me it took awhile for me to get to this point. Don't lose hope
  24. I will be attending Cochran so I will be declining my seat at Montefiore . So good luck to all that are still waiting for acceptance !
