  1. Regarding housing- most students live in apartments in the city. VCU has a pretty good bus network so some neighborhoods that are popular include Shockoe Bottom, Church Hill, the Fan, the Museum district and Scott's addition. There's a great Facebook page called VCU Housing, Sublets, & Roommates that has numerous listings everyday. Many apartments will become available in May when the rest of VCU graduates and it's good to start looking in March or so once people give their notice. Some apartment complexes that are popular include Cedar Broad, Canal Lofts, and bunch of ones from Legend Property group. If you live farther away from campus you can drive into the city and park at the 8th Street parking deck, which is two blocks over from the school of nursing.
  2. I'm trying to kick my pre-nursing school to-do list this week and was trying to purchase a parking pass for summer. Parking services told me they aren't open for purchase until May 17th- the first day of our orientation. I was hoping to have one by then so that the first day wouldn't be chaotic. Anyone heard anything else about this?
  3. @brownslh- I think every nursing school will have a few debbie downers, but I would make your opinion yourself. From what I have experienced on this message board and the school tour, people have gone out of their way to try to answer my questions and help me out! I think it is all who you surround yourself with. I think that VCU has some distinct advantages over the Marymount program: 1.) clinicals in an top tier hospital a few steps from the nursing school (no getting up extra early to fight NOVA traffic!) 2.) in-state tuition vs private school tuition 3.) cost of living is MUCH more affordable in RVA like $700/1br vs $1500+/1br 4.) VCU has incredible physical facilities like libraries and gyms that tiny Marymount just can't beat. Either way I think you will be taught by good faculty, have a good education, and be highly employable when you graduate. I know graduates of both programs, and either way you have two good options.
  4. Past students- do we have to order the hunter green scrubs through the school bookstore? I could have sworn that on the school of nursing tour they said that we could select a different brand as long as they were hunter green and we got them embroidered. Does anyone else know if this is true? I tried on the scrubs and they are boxy and thin compared to what I'm used to.
  5. I was also accepted and best of luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!
  6. I finally got my confirmation email that my application was complete earlier this week. Hoping that you all got them as well!
  7. I also have not received an email from them and everything was on time. I wouldn't worry too much because I am sure they had loads of applications finalizing last week and I am pretty sure it's a manual process.
  8. On the right-most portion of the VCU VIP page a little ways down there should be a heading called "Application status checklist." This shows what they have received and when they got it. There does seem to be a delay from when they have received something to when they update your page. Is anyone else having a difficult time getting their SATs/ ACTs sent? I requested that mine be sent back in September and VCU still hasn't received them yet. I called both companies (because I took them both back in the day) and they say they are experiencing delays due to an extra high request volume this year.
