  1. I strongly urge you to look into other nursing programs. What LaSalle was, is no longer what it is. The administration is worried about themselves and could care less about the damage they cause in the process of saving their own asses. Each semester, new rules are implemented with little regard of what happens to their students in the process. As a senior with 3 classes left, I failed my first exam after being in the ER. Still earned an overall average of an 80 in the course. But the new rule put in place that semester was a students cumulative test average must be 78 or above. We had 2 exams that semester. I earned an 85 and 66 which was a cumulative test average of 75. I was expelled. I begged to be placed on academic probation, had proof of my trip to the ER which was the reason I wasn't prepared for the exam. I entered the program as an honor student, and was an honor student while in their program. (I did end up earning a C+ in a previous course and was no longer on the Deans list.) I was also given a D in the class even though the 80 points were equivocal to a C. I owe 30 grand in student loans and my nursing credits are not transferrable. What I continued to be told was that Board of Nursing was coming to evaluate their provisional status and the nursing program had to show proof of changes that were made. Clearly, I was part of the proof. This rule was not in place when I agreed to attend LaSalle and I can't think of anyone who would agree to taking that kind of loss if they ever fail one exam due to extenuating circumstances. Once they have your money, you are at their mercy. What was done to me is comparable to a bait and switch. It's scary to think that the administrators who have led the program into the trouble it is in, are the very people who have complete control over your future. I do want to say that I did have a few amazing instructors while attending La Salle. However it is my opinion that at this time the bad far outweighs the good.
  2. So I was enrolled in the Achieve program. I entered as an honor student, made Deans list for the first 3 semesters. I was set to graduate in December. Because the school is on provisional status for accreditation with the Pa Board of Nursing, each semester they would initiate new requirements & change grading guidelines. The administration is basically penalizing current students for past mistakes. We realized that they are trying to decrease the amount of students. Who will be taking the NCLEX. Smaller # of students equal higher percentages. During the Spring semester a new rule implemented was cumulative test grade average must be above 78%. I was in the ER with an ovary torsion days before my Research final. Our instructor was traveling & made it clear that she would be unreachable the day of, and 4 days before the exam. Knowing I was unprepared, I took the exam & got a 64. This was the first exam I failed. My overall average for the course even with the failure, was 79, C. However, my cumulative test average was a 74 (two exams I got an 85 & 64) . so I was given a D in class & with 2 semesters & only 3 classes left to take, I was expelled. I provided hospital records, letters of recommendation & begged to be put on academic probation.. It was decided that because I did not email the instructor (who was unavailable & told us she wouldn't be checking her email prior to the exam)to reschedule taking the final, I would not be reinstated. LaSalle administrative staff could care less about the students and are focused on saving their own ass. I would have never agreed to spend so much time and money on a program where one exam has the potential to completely ruin my future. I'm supposed to graduate next month & instead I'm applying to college. I don't understand how it's fair that a student can agree to attend a program based on one set of guidelines & requirements, and once the student is invested, those requirements are changed to the detriment of the student. The Nursing Board has given Lasalle multiple opportunities to makes changes to improve their pass rates. Yet Lasalle administration refuses to extend a similar opportunity to their own student after an extenuating circumstance.
