Hi everyone. I am currently enrolled in a master's entry nursing program in Arizona. It doesn't have a specialty and is basically a BSN with master's requirements attached. I don't graduate until August, but I am planning ahead. I am moving back to Oregon. I'm not super picky about the location, but would ideally like to be in/around Portland or in Vancouver. Has any new grad managed to land a job at a hospital without completing a nurse residency program? My issue is that since my program ends in August, rather than December or June, I would miss the August cohort and would have to wait until February for the next one. I think I could probably land a position in a SNF/LTC, but I am hoping to be able to start out in acute care.

When you apply for FAFSA and U of A gets back to you, you'll be awarded about 40k in federal subsidized/unsubsidized loans. Make sure you apply for FAFSA for not only 2017-2018, but 2016-2017 as well. Half of the funds from the 40k come from 2016-2017. After that, you can request a grad plus loan from the school that will cover all additional costs of living. Let me know if you have any questions about it. I've looked into it a lot. You can always go the private route, but the interest rates are a lot higher.

That's where I'm confused too. I found that other ID needed to create the NetID on the grad app, but creating it requires some kind of pin. Maybe they send that once the grad college has officially approved us.

The CPR course looks like it is generally a four hour course. I'm pretty sure that the grad college just waits to accept you until the college of nursing accepts you.

You do have to be CPR certified before starting the program. I saw it somewhere on the nursing website.

The 40k in sub/unsub loans will be given regardless of credit. Look at the credit guidelines for what is considered "adverse" credit for the plus loans. That should help. If you don't meet those, you can get a cosigner. I realize that obtaining a cosigner is often easier said than done. It looks like there are a lot of scholarships as well.

You'll get 40k in federal loans automatically. Any additional expenses, including living expenses should be covered by the graduate plus loan. It's super easy to get, provided you don't have a bankruptcy or a lot of debt in collections. I also have been worried about paying for it, but I've done a lot of research and the federal government really provides a lot of loan money for grad students.

Someone said the tuition might be going up. Does anyone know what the out of state tuition could be going up to? I emailed a con advisor, but it was the first he had heard of it.

@ilovemyyorkie, you'll take it to your local police station and they will take your fingerprints for you. It requests that you fill out the application in black ink, but I don't believe that applies to the fingerprints. When I went and got mine done, they used red ink and they do those fingerprint cards routinely.

It should be the $65 dollar box for student/volunteer. There is a health sciences student box on the bottom right of the page.

It's 40k for residents and 49k for nonresidents. If you're going down the loan route, you can count on about 41k in federal loans and then the rest should be covered by grad plus loans.

Hello! I had a 4.0 in the prerequisites with one class in progress and a 91 on the Kaplan. Good luck! From reading previous cohort threads, a lot of people get off of the waitlist and your stats are really good, so I wouldn't worry.

Hi everyone. For out of state applicants that have already scanned their application to U of A, did you just scan and send the yellow sheet of the main packet or did you include the actual finger print card as well? Thanks!

I have an interview on 2/18! I was super bummed all weekend because I didn't get an email for an interview. I emailed this morning to ask because I thought my stats were good and I guess their system has issues with hotmail accounts and so I never received the email. I'm beyond happy and excited/nervous for the interview!

Hey everyone. Some advice would be greatly appreciated. I am in a bit of a dilemma regarding bio 320 (gen path). It's my only prerequisite course that I have listed as planned/in progress. I had planned on taking it online through the 8 week course starting 3/20/17. I didn't want to enroll early, unless I knew I was getting in, since the course is about $2000 and also because I'm still waiting on my university application to be approved. Now the course has filled up. As far as I can tell, it seems to be equivalent to most pathophysiology courses. Has anyone taken an equivalent elsewhere or used pathophysiology to satisfy the requirement? Also, has anyone called and made changes to their application after it was submitted? I emailed them, but I'm not sure when I'll hear back and I'm stressed.
