That is correct! Three semesters for your RN and then three semesters for your NP classes. Its an accelerated program. They have class curriculum plans on the website ?

I don't know about other specialties but for PMHNP for part time I have had to go to every block and some days I have class and some days I don't but I still have to be there almost the entire time. So for example blocks this year say on Monday I only have class 8-12 and full time has a class 1-5 so I am off after 12. and then the next day they have lab so I have a free day but then on Wednesday i have class 8-12 and 1-5 and then I have class 1-5 on thursday... etc. so, unfortunately, I still have to be there the whole time (sometimes I can leave a day early) but because the breaks are in the middle of the day or in the middle of scheduled blocks I still have to travel/get hotel almost the same amount of time as full time students.

We still go to campus for "blocks" three weeks every semester. So you can get to know staff if you choose. The pre speciality students know the professors the best because they had their RN classes with them but they are very approachable and nice and easy to converse with during breaks/after class/via email. I like the hybrid format

I'm sorry you guys still haven't found out. I just wanted to let everyone know that the open house is NOT intended for accepted students. If you want to come and see campus/Nashville I could see coming if it is inconvenient to come, I would suggest not wasting time/energy/money on open house. Everything you need to know will be available online in a "admitted student" tab. Good Luck! Remember your coping skills for stress management. I graduated with my BSN in December 2017 so I applied to Vandy before I graduated. I had a 3.76 GPA. Second in my class. Decent GRE (which now is not required) I was involved in nursing organizations and held office on my school campus and had a few awards but nothing too crazy. I had good recommendations from faculty which I think helped. I worked my butt off in school so I could go to grad school with zero experience. Now I did start working and continue to do so with school. We had all walks of life. No experience, 20 years and everything in between. And yes, someone else asked about applying after the "priority" date, I know of several people that were accepted that applied late.

I found out after 5. I remember because I was at work when I found out ( checking my phone in the bathroom every five minutes) I am sure my co workers probably thought I was having major GI distress ?

Due to my children and my husbands job moving for school was not in my cards. I already had my BSN so I chose to apply to my in-state university (Ohio State) and also Vandy due to the hybrid format. Since I work at OSU (adolescent inpatient psych) I could have went to school for almost free but ultimately choose to pay more for a better education. I do not regret that decision yet. Ask me again two years from now I might have a different answer.

Yes, I found out on Feb 14th. The program is challenging but doable. If you are full time you can not work. You will end up have clinical 3-4 days a week plus a full school load. I am part time (like I mentioned) and do work part time. I have four children so I can only manage to work part time school part time and full time momma I work at Ohio State University and also applied and was excepted there but ultimately chose to go to Vandy due to the psychopharmacology course work plus other resources they offer. 90% of what we will be doing is based around psychopharm and I am very pleased with my decision. Also I am originally from Alabama and do not know where I will end up working so I knew the Vandy name is well known nationwide. As for money, I had some in savings and pulled out loans for the rest. Also full time students get a small scholarship which helps some. I am a distant student so I do most of my course work online and then go to block for a week about three times a semester. Hope some of this helps ?

Hey guys! I am new this this post. I am a part time PMHNP student at Vandy so I will be finishing up next year with the new crop of RN students (and current Pre Speciality students). I was accepted for PMHNP and accepted part time but I am still waiting on one school to make my final decision. Don't give up hope. Some of us are still deciding. Good luck guys!!!

Thanks! It went well I think. It was an easy conversation but hard to tell if you left a good vibe haha. I am BSN to NP and I am a distant student. They told me to expect to know in early March which is way later than I have heard anyone else say. But maybe I will still know in Feb like every one else

I have an interview today and I am an RN who applied for PMHNP but I applied for part time so I assume they are probably getting close

So I received an interview invitation for Monday. Yay!!!! Any advice from those who interviewed for PMHNP? Question, does all recipients that applied before the Nov 1st deadline get an interview (for the specialties that interview) or is getting an interview a good sign?

I applied for Psych but part time. I haven't heard of speciality year students for psych yet. Here's to hoping I'm not out due to no interview.

Has anyone with a BSN received an invitation to interview yet? I am getting anxious. Feb can't get here fast enough.

I recently had a new grad interview with several different managers from different units and specialties. I was asked to shadow from all the managers after interviews. Over the last two weeks during shadowing I have found where I want to go. Should I continue to go to the scheduled shadowing for the other units knowing that I will not accept a position with them? I don't want to waste their time but I also come from the frame of mind, do not ever turn down a shadow opportunity if it is offered even if you don't want it because it is just bad practice especially when the managers are all in the same hospital system. (Different locations). So my question is, is it appropriate to cancel a scheduled job shadow post interview? Thoughts? TIA

I know this is a little old so you may have already decided one way or the other but I currently go to CCN and have enjoyed "most" of my experiences but it is expensive. I am not a traditional student 29 and kids so it was nice to have a diverse group of students so I didn't feel like an outcast with my peers. Clinicals can be good or suck, they are very luck of the draw. If you have any questions I am open to answer. I graduate in December

Just found this post. I applied to the PMHNP program and I will have my BSN in December. So excited and nervous to wait until December/January to hear anything at all since Psych is a specialty that interviews. I am nervous about finding my own clinicals since I am OMTA. I applied part time to stretch out the program to two years instead of one and it gives me more time to line up my clinicals. Good Luck everyone!!
