  1. I worked in AFH while state was there for inspection and used the hoyer alone and it was fine. I worked in a nursing home while state was there and I used a hoyer alone and was written up..I know if the facility has a procedure that 2 person hoyer is to be used than that is the rule. I think I was asking because I was working g in a facility where it was a rule 2 person transfer at?all times with the hoyer and CNA's were only using 1 I couldn't understand why that was ok to brake procedure..I just wanted to know ow what state rule was
  2. In Washington it is a state regulation that hoyer/Vander lifts are 2 people transfers..safety of resident and employee..
  3. Hi.i just have to reply..if your an aid and your license is still active and in good standing you should have no problem getting another job.. I have not been fired but have left jobs and got new ones..if they lied about you and it wasn't true than just be honest when applying. Don't be ashamed of what happen.you stayed late and finished your cares instead of leaving it for next shift. That's a good thing..I would not be afraid to apply elsewhere...
  4. I totally agree and would not care if I got written up..But to be put on suspension. And told someone would call me and let me know what was going on.if I had a job or didnt .to not hear anything I feel that is wrong..yes I admit I was wrong and yes it is there policy 2 people..but if there aids are going to train new aids and tell them to just close the door and use it if no one comes to help..they should be written up also..I'm not putting this out there to get sympothy.im putting ir our there to see if I'm wrong about should they call me and let me know what's going on? I have never had to use 2 people with a hoyer anywhere else I've worked..I was comfortable using it alone. If other aids refuse to help other aids and it's a very busy time of day what would u do..the nurses won't help the higher authorities were not there yet..
  5. I asked for help by the other aids they never came in to help me..the resident was wanting up I told her I was waiting for Co worker..they didn't come I proceeded on getting her up..I understand the accidents that could happen..bur seeing the shower aid not using 2 people and all other aids not using 2 people I just thought I was ok..the resident thanked me after she was settled in her chair and I went on with my day. .
  6. I think you should continue as a nurse..Everyday is differant and u just happened to have a bad day..I was at work where I had just recently started and the rules for hoyer lift is 2 people..in orientation when I asked what do you do if you can't get anyone to help you with the hoyer? An aid said just go in room shut the door and just use it..well all the aides use the hoyer by them self so I asked for help no one showed up so I used it by myself which is what I have always done at other jobs. And we'll the state was there..1 lady and everyone knew about her being there except me.no one told me she was there..the resident I got up told on me..well long story short I went to work following day and the nurse told me I was suspended and someone will call me..they didn't have my number she said so she had me write a statement and I put my phone number on the statement..well yesterday I called my job to see what was going on..if I still had a job and the lady I talked to didn't know what was going on..so she told me who to talk to so I went their asked to talk to her and she was gone for the day..so I called left a voice mail for her to call me back and a week later I still have not heard anything..I don't know if I have a job or not..I think it is very unprofessional that they didn't call me the day I was sent home..so yes keep being a nurse..I'm not giving up..I'm am good at what I do..yes I got caught but maybe they should look into how thete aids are training there cnas
  7. If your hard working, nice to everyone, and help the nurses you should be fine. You all are there to do a job. The residents are what is important..if your there to make friends it's not gonna work out for you..I've been a NAR for 8 years and a CNA for 4 years..I have noticed if you all work together things are good everyone gets along..if you don't than yes you could be disrespected..just do your job don't start problems and you will be fine..as far as the money goes..if have found working through agencys pay more but again it depends how much time you have under your belt.you have to start somewhere and you will move up..hope this helps. Good luck..
  8. I have never had to have 2 people for hoyer lift..untell my current job..I did use it alone like I am used to because when I asked for help the other aids either ignored me ,said ya I'll be right there and never show up..I can't see making resident wait so long while I find another aid to help or just stand there..well bottom line every cna in the facility uses the hoyer alone and when I asked what do you do when another aid isn't available? And I'm told just make sure you shut the door and just do it..well that is not the answer they should be given if it a rule..anyway just wanted to vent..I got caught they haven't I guess
