Non Nationally accredited Nursing Program
Hi applesxoranges! I got so busy with the application process I forgot to respond to you! Thank you so much for your post though, it was very helpful at the time! I did end up getting accepted into the school and I decided to move forward with them per your suggestion to just get my national accreditation through an RN-BSN program considering the VA is something of future interest to me. I did some hwk and found a few great schools that are both regionally and nationally accredited for their RN-BSN programs that are on my radar that would potentially accept me! Once again, thanks for the help!

Cover for Me! I Need to pump!
That particular nurse sounds like she doesn't have a very strong work ethic in the first place (abusing the right to pump by just taking a cig. break every chance she can get/unless she is an extreme addict.. then idk) and then the fact she is smoking while breastfeeding..? But I feel your opinion strongly. It is people like that who kind of ruin it for the ones who use their breaks appropriately.

Cover for Me! I Need to pump!
This post contains a lot of helpful information! I am just starting my nursing program this Spring but in reading some of the responses I hope things continue to improve before I get on the floor. I am still breastfeeding my 18 month old and would hope that breastfeeding my future child(ren) would be just as feasible vs. a hassle for myself and my coworkers. As the world continues to shift allowing women more and more rights in regards to the workplace, there should be more and more policies that respect the rights/needs of women's bodies that also create a safe and do-able environment for co-workers as well. Reading the responses on this thread makes me feel that more policies need to be implemented to create the environment that supports everyone on the floor whether it be the breastfeeding mom or the coworkers these breaks would affect.

I'm pretty sure she did not do the TB test right
So glad this post was here. I am starting Nursing School this Spring and currently in the process of doing my 2-step TB test. Today I got the first injection and it didn't bump up at all (not at all like the previous tests I've done) where there was a little bubble). The Medical Assistant who performed the test did it kind of high though on my forearm (an inch and a half away from my elbow crease).. I'm hoping this doesn't affect the reading.

Non Nationally accredited Nursing Program
Just posting to bump my question up. I'm hoping someone can help me with this please?

Non Nationally accredited Nursing Program
Hello! So I am considering a nursing program that is Regionally accredited (in CA) but it is not Nationally Accredited (but is going through the process to get reaccredited nationally). I keep hearing rumors though that having a non-nationally accredited degree prevents you from working in a govt. position such as the VA. Is this true? Can getting a degree from this school limit my options in the future? Thanks in advanced!

ADN (Regionally accredited but not Nationally accredited?)
Hello Everyone! I am currently applying to ADN programs and one of the schools I know I could easily get into is Regionally Accredited in California, but it is not Nationally accredited. I do anticipate furthering my education later on so I was wondering how this lack of National Accredidation can impact me negatively. Also, say if I ever was to go to Medical School one day after I get on my feet and save up for awhile (or even become a specialized nurse) would this non accredited ADN hinder my advancement in either route of education? Ultimately, I would hate to wait any longer than I would have to in regards to actually starting nursing school, but is it recommended to wait (and maybe work under my CNA cert.) until I get into a Nationally accredited ADN program? Or is going ahead with a non nationally accredited school ok so long as it is regionally accredited?? Another question I have is, how hard is it to get into a Nationally accredited BSN program if your ADN isn't Nationally accredited (and again how could this affect me furthering my education in Graduate school one day?). Thank you all in advanced!
