If you're looking to get experience in a hospital environment to make sure you want to have a career in the medical field, it is definitely beneficial because you can make sure you can handle everything (example: blood, smells etc.). It is also helpful in your networking if you are in school. No nursing experience required, CPR cert for my hospital was required. Personally, i enjoy it a lot, it's a great way to get your foot in the door.

I will be starting GGC's nursing program for this upcoming spring semester, so i do not know a lot about it in terms of what to expect academically, but i can answer some of your questions about the schedule. Once you are accepted into the program they will register you for your courses, you do not register yourself and pick your schedule. So far, my schedule says I will have class about 4 times a week including the clinical day. I heard from a student already in the program that you will either have clinical on Monday or Tuesday and that those days change each semester.

Teas: 88.7% Overall GPA: 3.7 Science GPA: 3.88 I know someone who recently met with their mentor and their mentor had a lot of info on the nursing program (last semester they did not have this info) as far as how they look at applicants and what they are looking for, if you go to GGC i would recommend asking your mentor what all they look at. I know that they said the teas weighs around 40%, they do take into account science GPA, and of course recommendation letters and volunteer work and things like that.

I got my acceptance by email as well, and still haven't received my physical letter by mail either. Congrats on getting in!!
