At my school it would be added years unless you take a lot of hours each semester because nursing majors usually don't have minors

I work as a pca on a med surg unit while I'm in nursing school. On my unit, they call prn when they need them, like you said, and they can also pick up shifts that they want. My friend is prn and she can say no if she can't actually come in. If that's the case everywhere it seems like a pretty sweet deal.
