A&P and pre-reqs for accelerated program
I understand where you are coming from. This past semester was my first semester back in school after a long break post BA. I took AP 1 and human life span. I got an A in both while working both a full time and per diem job. It was hard, but like many posters say up here it's about managing your time. You know your limits, listen to those. Best of luck!

The WORST TEACHER EVER
This thread was awhile ago, but I figured I would come back and give an update. Due to the overwhelming amount of complaints from students, dean observation, and the class being severely behind; the professor was replaced with someone phenomenal. I ended up getting an A in the class! Great end to what started out as a nightmare.

Thanks for this. I agree with you wholeheartedly. I believe in quality education especially when I'm paying for it in cold cash. Lol! BTW, everyone I had my first test this week. Although I haven't gotten it back yet, I left feeling pretty confident. Your suggestions were awesome, as I used quite a few of them.

The WORST TEACHER EVER
DrKim, I responded to everyone as you can see to say thank you for the great advice because I was serious about looking for ways to succeed in this class minus the help of my professor plus I'm pretty new to all nurses. I found it to be a common courtesy. While I appreciate your input and feedback, I stand by my decision as a student and adult. I went back and forth internally about whether or not to do it because I did not want to appear as the arrogant student. While that opinion may have been taken, I have made peace with that because for me it was the right thing to do. Again, this is not a common practice for me so that should shed light on the fact that the practices occurring in the classroom were pretty bad. Once again, three other students in the classroom reported her as well. While I need no one to validate my choice, just to be clear that this was not an issue of the overly sensitive student running to tell because my feelings were hurt. I just want the same quality of education as everyone else going into this program so I don't find myself at a disadvantage later. If that means she won't give me a letter of recommendation later, I'll be ok. But thanks for the feedback.

Awesome suggestions, I'll be doing all of this stuff. This has been ridiculously helpful. I refuse to drop this class or leave with anything less than an A.

The WORST TEACHER EVER
I appreciate the honesty. In all my years of schooling, I have never reported a professor ever. Prior to the incident on Friday, I already knew she was a bad teacher (unclear, disorganized, confusing in presentation) but her nasty attitude combined with an unwillingness to answer a very simple question I asked pushed me over the edge. Not to mention, prior to going to the dean, I went to talk to her. She dismissed me abruptly. Not to mention three other people reported her as well. I say all of that to say I'm pretty tough and tolerant. In this situation, I thought it was important someone be made aware of what was going on inside of her lecture hall. Now that I know that I can't rely on her lecture, I'm just trying to identify ways to succeed in AP 1 and get the hell out of this class, lol.

Thank you so much for your great suggestions! I will definitely use all of these. I'm not afraid of the hard work and I'm doing extremely well in the lab portion of the class. As far as switching classes, I requested it in my original email to the dean. She didn't really acknowledge that request and just simple stated she would get to the bottom of my issue. I just figured it may be too late. Based on how the test goes, I will definitely be following up on that request.

She's actually new to the school. But that was the plan to muddle through. Mostly looking for advice to succeed in the class without assistance from her. Thanks so much for your advice.

The WORST TEACHER EVER
I definitely wasn't expecting her to explain everything. Her teaching style, or lack thereof, is quite hard to explain. I expected to be taking loads of notes during her lecture, it's an AP class for goodness sake. Not so much. The notes I take are primarily from my own reading and understanding. When I do ask a question, more times than not I end up more confused. It is the craziest thing ever. I'm not the only one complaining. Thanks for all your suggestions. Wish me luck on my first test. Lol.

Yes, we do have a resource center. I definitely plan on utilizing it. Fortunately, my lab professor has been awesome with explaining things that my lab professor has failed to explain. Quizlet has been my best friend, lol. She doesn't lecture. She babbles about nonsense for 50 minutes. Nothing even worth taking notes. It is quite horrible. I will continue to muddle through and hope for the best. Thanks for the great suggestions. I'll be looking into Khan Academy.
