  1. I had a post-op shoulder in and we were giving vodka prn, I have to admit it was weird seeing a vodka bottle with a name sticker in the med room. Unusual? Yes, uncomfortable?, no. Post op with a new shoulder was not the time to be dealing with detox.
  2. Sounds fishy.... What is this federal scholarship called? Lose the boyfriend, your already so down on yourself you don't need him also adding to your burden. Like it's been mentioned before, have you looked at rural health or critical access hospitals? But wait... Pass your NCLEX first, get a license or at least a temp, then really pursue a job.
  3. Have you considered rural areas? I worked in two different critical access hospitals in Northern CA, one straight out of nursing school.
  4. Your OP stated your job is not to judge, but clearly you do if a parents decision go against what you think they should do, act and react.
  5. For me, I didn't think it was that bad. I also completed an ADN from LVN and worked two 12 night shifts on a med-surg floor. It's all in how YOU handle multiple-tasking. For me it was quite easy, I set aside time to study, never skimped on that time, got my homework and studying done, made enough money to not have to take out loans to cover my expences. That said, I had classmates that struggled through school and didn't have jobs. Like I said, it's all in how you perform, know yourself, know your limitations, make a plan and then stick to it whatever you decide and you should find success in whatever path you choose, good luck.
